They call this tour ‘partially guided’. However, according to what we received, VIO was only a booking company. All you’re getting for this price are a service to just book your train tickets, hotels and a few day tours (thru 3rd party companies). The company itself does NOT provide any touring service (as in an actual guide). You are pretty much left on your own. If you need support, you will only get a chat thread on Whatapp with employees that are in different cities. NONE of them actually in Japan. (Australia, Philippines, Hong Kong). I am told the actual tour office is in Thailand. Leaves me a lot of questions. It also should be mentioned when I was requesting help on the chat thread it took over 3 hours to get in contact with a supervisor. The transportation system in Japan is very complicated and intimidating. VIO will offer very confusing instructions on navigating your way around, as NO ONE will show up to help you. You don’t need an outside service to book your train, hotel and excursions. Please use other websites (Hotels.com, Viator, Expedia, or whatever) and do it yourself. You’ll save a lot more money. And you’re getting the same thing but without the illusion of having a ‘tour’. They were very dismissive and didn’t seem concerned with customer satisfaction. Seemed content to just check the boxes for what the tour said it would provide. There is something to be said about helping a customer in need. Take note, they described their company as “we are a Destination Management Company” and “known as a Tour Operator”. We had employees that were confused as to how they could be helpful not knowing our exact position at any given time. We tried to explain that the schedule for 3 venues in Tokyo (in one day) was poorly planned, as we had to rush thru one of them to make the afternoon appointment. Also, the Kyoto day tour was NOT in English, even though the tour is advertised as ‘English’. The tour itself was great, but the entire narration was done in Japanese. This is very misleading. Advice: Go on other sites and book your itinerary. YouTube also has many channels that will help you do that. Tour Radar was not responsible for what happened on the tour, however, it should take note of the poor quality of this ‘tour operator’

Without a guide, it was hard to travel alone through Japan. I spent a fortune on taxis and without Japanese speaking English was even harder. You shouldn’t offer a tour without a guide.
