Arrival in Dominica
You'll arrive in Dominica and get transferred from either the airport or port to the Tamarind Tree Hotel in Salisbury. This family-run eco-certified spot sits on a 30-meter cliff with great sea views, so you can settle in and get your bearings for the week ahead.

- Day 2
Emerald Pool and Kalinago Region
Head along the east coast through the Kalinago region to check out Emerald Pool, which was historically important to the indigenous Kalinago tribe. Stop at the Escalier Tete-Chien sanctuary and open-air museum to learn about the last real Kalinagos living there today. Later in the afternoon, hike through the Central Forest Reserve to reach Spanny Twin Waterfalls.

- Day 3
Middleham Waterfall and Trafalgar Falls
Start from Laudat in the Roseau Valley and hike to Middleham Waterfall, Dominica's highest at 80 meters, located within the Morne Trois Piton National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Walk part of the Waitukubuli National Trail to a viewing platform, and you can take a refreshing swim if you want. After that, see the twin Trafalgar Falls in the jungle, then finish with a visit to the sulphur spring in Wotten Waven.

Whale Watching
Take it easy at the hotel this morning. Around lunchtime, head out on a whale watching trip off the west coast. Sperm whales are in these Caribbean waters year-round, and you might also spot pilot whales, false killer whales, or occasionally humpback whales.

Landmarks West Coast, Dominica - Day 5
Cabrits National Park and Indian River
Travel north through the crater of Morne aux Diables via the Northern Link Road, stopping at cold sulphur springs before reaching Cabrits National Park with its tropical forests and wetlands. Walk through the partially rebuilt Fort Shirley. In the afternoon, take a rowing boat trip on the Indian River, which you might recognize as a filming location from Pirates of the Caribbean II.

Boiling Lake and Titou Gorge
This is a strenuous hike day to Boiling Lake, the second largest boiling lake in the world. You'll cross through five different tropical vegetation zones and the Valley of Desolation. Stop for a picnic on the shore above the boiling waters, then on the way back swim in natural jacuzzis and through Titou Gorge to reach a waterfall.

Champagne Pool Snorkeling
Spend your morning relaxing at the hotel. In the early afternoon, drive to Pointe Guinard to refresh yourself and snorkel in Champagne Pool. The volcanic air bubbles rising from underground fumaroles create something you won't find many other places.
