Garmisch-Partenkirchen
You'll arrive in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and have the rest of the day to explore this twin town on your own schedule. The town itself has a lot to see with its traditional Bavarian architecture and local shops. Get settled into your accommodation and relax after your journey.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Mittenwald or Klais
This morning you'll head into the Partnachklamm gorge, where water from the Wetterstein mountains creates a wild landscape. The hike covers about 16 km and takes around 5 hours with 640m of elevation gain and 430m descent. After working through the gorge, you'll walk through gentle hills and alpine meadows heading toward Mittenwald or Klais depending on your route choice.

Leutasch Valley
For the standard option, you'll take a bus to Mittenwald first (not included in the tour). From there, you'll walk through a precision-carved gorge with footbridges reaching up to 40 meters above the water. After that, the route follows the Leutascher Ache past small villages and flower meadows as the valley widens. This 14 km hike takes about 4 hours with 220m elevation gain, and the Wetterstein mountains frame the whole route.

Leutasch
Today is flexible - you can either relax or choose from several guided hiking options. If you hike, you might head to the Ropferstubn panoramic view via the Way of St. James, climb to the Brunschkopf viewing lodge, take a leisurely walk around Weidachsee lake, or hike up to the rustic Wildmoosalm. Most routes run about 11 km over 4 hours with 350m elevation gain and descent.

Gaistal Valley to Ehrwald
A short bus ride takes you to Gaistal valley (not included). You'll then hike through alpine pastures where Scottish Galloway cattle and brown cattle graze alongside you. The Ganghofer Weg follows the route that was once a favorite retreat of Bavarian writer Ludwig Ganghofer. This 17 km route takes around 5 hours with 440m elevation gain, and you'll finish the day descending via cable car into Ehrwald.

Ehrwald to Garmisch-Partenkirchen
You'll hike gradually up toward the foothills of Zugspitze, building elevation throughout the 12 km route. The hike takes about 4.5 hours with 540m elevation gain and 510m descent. The journey ends at Eibsee lake with great views looking back at the Zugspitze massif. From there, you'll take the Zugspitzbahn railway back down to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
