Itinerary
- Day 1
Keflavik to Reykjavik
You'll land at Keflavik Airport and get a transfer to your accommodation in Reykjavik, roughly 50 km away. It takes about 45 minutes depending on traffic. This gives you time to settle in and get oriented before your first night in Iceland's capital.
- Day 2
Golden Circle and South Coast
Today you're driving the Golden Circle route. Start at Thingvellir National Park where you can actually stand between two continental plates. Then head to Strokkur geyser and watch the hot water shoot up, followed by Gullfoss waterfall. After lunch, continue south to see Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls back to back. The drive ends at the black sand beach at Reynisfjara before you reach Vik for the night.

- Day 3
Skaftafell to Höfn and Jökulsarlon Glacier Lagoon
Starting from Vik, you're heading toward Höfn with a stop at Skaftafell National Park for a short hike up to Svartifoss waterfall, where glaciers tower in the background. Later, you'll reach Jökulsarlon glacier lagoon, the real highlight. Massive chunks of ice break off from Vatnajökull glacier and float around the lagoon before washing up on Diamond Beach. It's a long drive but worth every minute.

East Fjords to Egilsstadir
Today takes you north through the East Fjords, a region carved out by ancient ice ages with constantly changing scenery. You'll pass through several fishing villages and take in the remote fjord landscapes. There's an optional thermal bath experience at Vök Baths if you want to soak in geothermal hot water designed by the same architect who worked on the Blue Lagoon.

Lake Myvatn and Volcanic Phenomena
After heading south through isolated terrain, you'll reach Lake Myvatn, famous for its volcanic activity. Check out Namaskard's steaming hot springs and then walk through Dimmuborgir's twisted lava formations. You can choose to relax at either Jardbördin natural spa or the newer Geo Sea thermal spa near Husavik. If the Northern Lights appear tonight, you could be soaking in warm geothermal water under the lights.

Godafoss and Akureyri
Heading toward Akureyri, you'll stop at Godafoss, a waterfall where water tumbles over ice formations. Spend some time walking around Akureyri's harbor area with its small cafes and shops. On the drive, you might spot Icelandic horses in Skagafjördur, the region known for horse breeding. You'll finish the day in either Hvammstangi or Akureyri depending on your accommodation tier.

Waterfalls and Return to Reykjavik
Heading back toward Reykjavik, stop at the historic village of Reykholt where the writer Snorri Sturluson lived centuries ago. See Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, where water cascades over a kilometer straight out of a lava field. There's an optional visit to the settlement museum in Borgarnes if history interests you. In the evening, consider booking an optional Northern Lights cruise from Reykjavik for a chance to see them over the ocean.
