Itinerary
- Day 1
Cape Town to Oudtshoorn
You'll leave Cape Town early and head along Route 62, driving through wine country toward Oudtshoorn. The route takes you through small Klein Karoo towns like Barrydale and Calitzdorp, where you can stop and walk around if you want. In the afternoon, you'll get to an ostrich farm for a tractor tour through what locals call the 'ostrich metropolis'. Dinner happens in Oudtshoorn and that's where you'll sleep for the night.

Oudtshoorn to Tsitsikamma
After breakfast, you'll explore the Cango dripstone caves, which formed about 20 million years ago. From there, you drive through the Karoo past small villages like De Rust and De Vlugt before tackling Prince Alfred's Pass, South Africa's longest publicly accessible mountain pass. The drive then takes you to the coastal town of Keurboomstrand and into the misty Tsitsikamma Forest. You'll have dinner and stay at Storms River Village, where locals provide the hospitality.

- Day 3
Tsitsikamma to Knysna
Your morning is free to walk through the forest village at your own pace. Later in the morning, you'll head to cross the Storms River Suspension Bridge, which has three wooden walkways and gives great views down into the gorge and out to the ocean. From there, you continue to Plettenberg Bay and then to Knysna, known for its inland waterways and the Knysna Heads with their sandstone cliffs. You'll walk around the marina at Thesen Island before dinner at your hotel.

Knysna to Albertina
Following breakfast, you drive via Wilderness and the Map of Africa viewpoint to reach Mossel Bay. The Bartholemew Diaz Museum there features the historic Post Office Tree. Next is Albertina, which South Africa calls the aloe capital. By early afternoon you'll arrive at a malaria-free game reserve for an open safari vehicle drive. You'll watch for lions, white rhinos, elephants, buffalo, and cheetahs roaming the landscape. The day ends with dinner served in the open air.

Albertina to Arniston
An early morning game drive in an open safari vehicle lets you spot lions and giraffes as the sun comes up over the plains. After breakfast, the route continues past farmland and fields of aloe and protea to Swellendam, which is known for its berries. Then you head to Arniston on the Indian Ocean where the afternoon is yours to spend on the white beaches and looking at colorful fishing boats. Dinner is back at your hotel where you'll relax for the evening.

Arniston to Cape Town
You start at Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of Africa where the Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean meet. The Cape Agulhas Museum is there if you want to check it out. Then it's on to Hermanus, South Africa's best spot for whale watching if you're traveling between July and November. The drive along the coastal road passes False Bay with views across to Cape Town and Table Mountain. You'll pull into your Cape Town hotel around 5 pm, which is where the tour ends.
