Itinerary
- Day 1
Hobart to Strahan
Your hotel pickup happens around 7:30 am, and from there you'll head west into Tasmania's wilderness. Walking among tall eucalyptus trees takes you to Russell Falls, and the drive that follows cuts through some really nice landscapes. You'll pass by Lake St Clair and Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park before stopping in Queenstown to learn about the area's mining heritage. By evening you'll be settling into Strahan for two nights.

- Day 2
Strahan
Strahan gives you choices for what to do. You can hike through temperate rainforest and cross the Henty Sand Dunes, or there's an optional Gordon River Cruise that takes you out to Sarah Island and the surrounding World Heritage wilderness. After lunch, head to Ocean Beach, which is Tasmania's longest stretch of sand, so you'll get some solid time along the coast if you want it.

Strahan - Cradle Mountain - Launceston
Today you're heading to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site with some real alpine scenery. Several walk options are available, including a 6 km circuit around Dove Lake or a steeper hike up to Marion's Lookout where wombats and echidnas come through. After exploring, you'll drive through Sheffield (known for its murals) and continue on to Launceston, where you'll stay one night.

Launceston - Bicheno
Start by checking out Cataract Gorge, a nature reserve right near Launceston's center where wallabies hang along the South Esk River. From there, head to the fishing village of St. Helens and on to the Bay of Fires, which holds spiritual significance for the Palawa people. The beaches here have white sand and turquoise water with those striking orange boulders nearby. You'll finish the day in Bicheno, and evening penguin tours are available if you're interested.

- Day 5
Bicheno - Freycinet National Park - Hobart
Freycinet National Park on the east coast has great beaches, coastal forests, and those pink granite mountains. Walking options range from the popular Wineglass Bay Lookout to a beach descent or the steeper Mt Amos climb with panoramic views. For something more relaxed, there's a coastal walk to Honeymoon Bay. Stop by Tourville Lighthouse for Tasman Sea views, then drive back to Hobart for a two-night stay.

Hobart
Bonorong wildlife sanctuary is where you'll see quolls, birds, wombats, kangaroos, and Tasmanian devils. After that, walk through the historic Richmond village and drive through the Coal River Valley wine region. Mount Wellington (Kunanyi) and Wellington Park round out the day with fern meadows, eucalypt forests, rock pillars, and walking trails that give you good lookout points. Finish with dinner at one of Hobart's historic pubs or restaurants.

Port Arthur - Hobart
The Tasman Peninsula (Turrakana) is your focus today, and it's heavy on convict history. Port Arthur Historic Site shows Tasmania's best-preserved convict settlement with extensive grounds and ruins. There's a 2-3 hour hike from Remarkable Cave to Crescent Bay to see the coastal dunes, and Tasman Arch in Tasman National Park shows the Southern Ocean's impact on Australia's highest sea cliffs. You'll drive back to Hobart in the afternoon to wrap up your tour.
