Itinerary
- Day 1
Buenos Aires to Colonia del Sacramento
Your hotel in Buenos Aires will pick you up early so you can get to the port with plenty of time before the ferry. The crossing to Colonia del Sacramento takes you to a small colonial city where Spanish and Portuguese architecture mix together in really interesting ways. Once you're there, a local guide takes you through the old town on foot, walking along the historic stone streets and pointing out the colonial buildings that make the place feel frozen in time. After the tour wraps up, you'll have the rest of the afternoon to yourself before settling into your accommodation for the night.
Included Activities
- Half-day city tour of Colonia del Sacramento old town
- Ferry crossing on Buquebus line to Colonia del Sacramento

- Day 2
Colonia del Sacramento to Montevideo
This morning you'll head to the bus station and take a public bus to Montevideo, which gives you a real sense of how people move around this part of Uruguay. After you check into your hotel, a guide meets up with you for a city tour covering the old town, the harbor market where you can see the action and energy, and Plaza de Independencia which is pretty central to understanding the city. The guide explains how tango culture, waves of European immigrants, and African Candombe drummers all shaped Montevideo into what it is today. Later in the afternoon, you're free to wander around on your own and check out whatever interests you.
