Itinerary
- Day 1
Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Cave
Your trek begins at Umbwe Gate starting at 1,600 metres/5,249 feet. From there, you'll hike through thick rainforest covering around 11 kilometres with roughly 1,000 metres of elevation gain. It's a tough day but relatively short, and you'll finish at Umbwe Cave campsite sitting at 2,940 metres/9,646 feet.

Umbwe Cave to Barranco Camp
You continue moving upward through rainforest as it gradually shifts to moorland. The hiking gets steeper and you'll notice the plants changing as altitude increases. This day covers approximately 6 kilometres with about 1,000 metres of elevation gain, bringing you to Barranco Camp at 3,950 metres/12,959 feet.

Barranco Camp Acclimatisation Day
Today is a rest and acclimatisation day at Barranco Camp. Use this time to let your body adjust to the altitude and improve your chances of reaching the summit. Optional short hikes are there if you want to explore the area around camp and help your acclimatisation process.

Landmarks/POIs Mount Kilimanjaro  - Day 4
Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
You'll face the famous Barranco Wall, a challenging scramble that requires using your hands to get up. After making it over the wall, the route follows a ridge with views across the landscape. From there, trek approximately 5 kilometres with a modest elevation gain of about 400 metres to reach Karanga Camp at 4,035 metres/13,238 feet.

Landmarks/POIs Barranco Wall Mount Kilimanjaro  - Day 5
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
A short but steep climb takes you to Barafu Camp, which serves as your base for the summit attempt. The surroundings become rockier and more barren as you enter the alpine desert zone. You'll cover approximately 4 kilometres with an elevation gain of about 600 metres, arriving at Barafu Camp at 4,640 metres/15,223 feet.

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
This is the most demanding and fulfilling day of the entire trek. Starting in the early morning hours, you'll push toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres/19,341 feet. It's gruelling both mentally and physically, but you'll need to dig deep and keep going. After reaching the summit and celebrating, you then descend all the way to Mweka Camp at 3,100 metres/10,170 feet where you can rest and recover.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Your final day takes you down through lush rainforest, providing a striking contrast after spending days in alpine and barren terrain. As you descend, vegetation returns around you, marking the completion of your Kilimanjaro trek.
