Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Hanoi

Your driver meets you at Hanoi airport and takes you to your hotel. After settling in and freshening up from your flight, you'll head out in the late afternoon for a food tour through Hanoi's streets. This is when the city really comes alive, and you'll get to try local dishes at different stops around the Old Quarter. By evening you'll head back to your hotel to rest.

    Start point
Noi Bai International Airport, Sóc Sơn, Hanoi, 12200, Vietnam (We pickup from Hanoi airport or around Hanoi old quarter area, 00:00 - 00:00)

  2. Day 2

    Hanoi City Tour

This morning you join a group walking through Hanoi's main attractions. The city moves fast and feels chaotic, but that's part of what makes it interesting. You'll see the Hoan Kiem Lake area, visit some temples, and walk through neighborhoods where you get a real sense of how people live here. The tour covers the highlights and helps you understand the layout of the city before exploring on your own later.

    Included Activities

    • Hanoi city group tour
  3. Day 3

    Hanoi to Ninh Binh

Early departure takes you south to Ninh Binh, about two hours from Hanoi. The landscape shifts to endless rice paddies with limestone mountains rising up dramatically. On the group tour you'll visit a local temple, then get in a small boat and float down the river through caves. Later you climb up to Mua Cave for views across the whole valley. By evening you're settled into a family-run homestay, and you can watch the sun go down from your room.

  4. Day 4

Ninh Binh to Ha Long Bay

After breakfast you drive to Halong City and board your overnight cruise. The boat takes you out into Ha Long Bay where limestone formations rise straight out of the water. During the day you'll kayak into some of the caves and explore the formations up close. There's time to relax on deck with a drink, and that night you sleep on the boat anchored in the bay.

The cruise heads back to Halong City in the morning. From there you drive back to Hanoi, and later that evening you board an overnight train heading south toward Hoi An. You'll sleep in your cabin as the train moves through Vietnam. It's a long journey but a practical way to cover the distance while you rest.

  6. Day 6

    Arrival in Hoi An

You arrive in Hoi An around midday and have the early afternoon free to grab lunch wherever you want. Later on an afternoon group tour covers the main parts of this old town. The architecture here has a completely different feel from Hanoi, with narrow streets and traditional buildings. You'll get oriented to the area and learn some history before having the evening to yourself.

  7. Day 7

    Ba Na Hills

A day trip takes you to Ba Na Hills, a hilltop area where the temperature and landscape change as you go higher. It's marketed as experiencing four seasons in one day because the weather shifts that much. The main attraction is the Golden Bridge, a long pedestrian walkway held up by two enormous stone hands carved right out of the mountain. It's quite a sight, and from there you can see out over the surrounding hills.

After that you visit My Son Holyland, an archaeological site with temple ruins from the Champa kingdom that ruled this region centuries ago. It's a good way to understand the history and see how people have lived in this area over time.

By this point you'll have met other travelers and locals who can point you toward what to do next.

    End point
Hội An, Quảng Nam, Vietnam (We drop off around Hoi An city center, Danang city center or at Danang airport, 00:00 - 00:00)

Minh was the best guide ever. He knew his food and took us to 6 local eating places that we would not have found ourselves. We felt very comfortable with him leading our group of 5 and it was great to spend the evening with him. Minh’s english was perfect which made communication very easy. I totally recommend this tour and Minh.

This was an excellent trip, visiting places in central Vietnam I had not visited before. I soon found that I was the only person in the group but that caused no problems. The organiser, Viet, kept in touch with me using Whatsap. He/she were very helpful, advising of pick up times for each activity. They also answered promptly and had excellent English skills. I met different people on tours and never felt lonely. Viet also allowed me to change one of my scheduled activities in Hoi An and arranged a more suitable alternative. He also allowed me to cancel one day's activities and refunded me the money. It was all very flexible. Viet arranged daily tours for me with other travel agents. All were very good. The accommodation was also excellent. Each hotel had very friendly staff and were very clean. Breakfast was also good but lacking in choices in Hoi An. I could happily recommend Old Quarter Travel to others.

Love this trip! Great communications about what was happening every day. This trip was different because we had a different guide every day. It worked because of great communication. Great hotels and breakfast every day. All tours included lunch. Everything was handled for us. Great tour coordination!
