Itinerary
- Day 1
Barcelona to Huesca
After getting picked up in Barcelona this morning, you'll head into the Montserrat mountains to see the Benedictine Monastery set into the dramatic rock formations. There's time for lunch in the area, and you can decide whether to go inside the monastery or take the cable car for views across the region. From there, you'll stop in Lleida to walk through the castle and cathedral before heading on to Huesca for the evening.

- Day 2
Monte Perdido National Park - Jaca - Huesca
This is a day with significant walking as you explore Monte Perdido National Park starting from Torla-Ordesa at the gateway. You'll see steep cliffs, thick forests, and the Pyrenees stretching out around you. Later you'll travel through the mountains to Jaca, where you can see Spain's only surviving star-shaped fortress. After trying some regional Aragon food, you'll head back to Huesca for the evening.

Zaragoza - Tarazona - Haro
You'll arrive in Zaragoza and check out the Aljaferia Palace from the 11th century, then have time to explore the city on your own. If you like art, there are Goya paintings to find. History buffs can seek out Roman remains, and food-focused travelers can try chireta. In the afternoon, drive to Tarazona to see its medieval Mudejar architecture, then continue to Haro where your evening is free to sample some La Rioja red wines.

- Day 4
San Sebastian - Pamplona - Haro
You're heading into the Basque Country starting in San Sebastian, which has more Michelin-starred restaurants per person than almost anywhere else. After lunch and a walk along La Concha beach, you'll travel inland to Pamplona, known for the Running of the Bulls event. There's free time to explore the fortress walls before you return to Haro for the evening.

- Day 5
La Rioja - Haro
Early in the morning you'll drive through La Rioja's rolling hills to Santo Domingo de la Calzada where you can wander around the medieval streets or check out the cathedral. At a family-run winery, you'll taste local wines and have some snacks. Later in the day, head to San Vicente de la Sonsierra and cross the medieval bridge over the Ebro River, then climb up to the castle for views of the valley below. You'll be back in Haro with time to relax or grab dinner.

Burgos - Aranda de Duero - Real Sitio de San Ildefonso - Madrid
Leaving La Rioja behind, you'll travel toward Castile and Leon. First stop is Burgos where the cathedral is one of Spain's most impressive, so spend time looking it over. After lunch in Aranda de Duero, a place known for wine and good food, you'll head south to La Granja de San Ildefonso. This palace is sometimes called Spain's mini-Versailles, and you'll have access to the ornate rooms and gardens. You'll arrive in Madrid as evening comes on.

Madrid
Madrid is yours to explore however you'd like. You can catch a hop-on, hop-off bus to see the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. Head to Santiago Bernabeu if you want to check out the Real Madrid football stadium. The Prado Museum has incredible art if that interests you. Or just find a tapas spot, order a jug of sangria, and relax in the city.

Toledo - Castilla-La Mancha - Despenaperros - Cordoba
You're leaving Madrid and heading south toward Toledo, the former capital that sits on a hill above the Tajo River. People call it the City of Three Cultures because you'll see remnants of Muslim mosques, Jewish synagogues, and Christian cathedrals mixed throughout the cobbled streets. Next, you'll pass through Castilla-La Mancha, the setting for Don Quixote stories, and stop at Despenaperros Natural Park which marks the gateway to Andalucia. You'll reach Cordoba by evening with time for dinner.

- Day 9
Jaen - Granada
Start your morning with an included visit to La Mezquita, the Moorish mosque with rows of decorated arches, peaceful interior spaces, and a cathedral built inside it. After that, you'll drive through olive tree-covered hills into Jaen province, which produces most of Spain's olive oil. You'll visit the hilltop fortress of Fortaleza de la Mota, and by early evening you'll be in Granada where you'll stay for two nights.

- Day 10
Guadix - Granada
This morning you'll visit the Alhambra, the UNESCO-listed fortress and palace that's one of Spain's most famous sites. Your entrance and audio guide are included, so you can spend hours walking through this complex with its intricate details and different sections. In the afternoon, head to the Barrio de las Cuevas in Guadix and optionally go inside the Guadix Cave Dwellings Interpretation Centre to see how people live in caves. If there's time, you'll stop to photograph the Sierra Nevada mountains before heading back to Granada.

El Torcal de Antequera - Ronda - Seville
You'll start at El Torcal de Antequera nature reserve in the Sierra del Torcal Mountains, where you can see incredible limestone shapes that formed over millions of years. After that, you'll drive through Andalucia's countryside and pass through the lakes of Malaga's Lake District before reaching Ronda, a town that sits dramatically on cliffs above El Tajo Gorge. After exploring and having a relaxed lunch, you'll visit an olive oil farm where you'll learn about Spain's olive oil production. The day ends in Seville where you'll stay for two nights.

- Day 12
Seville
Seville is open for you to explore on your own terms. Check out the cathedral, sit with a glass of wine in Plaza de Espana, or take a walk along the Guadalquivir River banks. Your guide can point you toward things that match what you're interested in. Alternatively, there's an optional half-day tour available to Jerez, which is famous for flamenco dancing, horses, and sherry. Your evening back in Seville is free.

Huelva - Tavira - Lisbon
You're heading west from Seville toward the Costa de la Luz, a coastal area known for bright sun and golden beaches. In Huelva, you'll stop at Muelle de las Carabelas, an included waterside exhibition showing life-size replicas of Columbus's three ships from his voyage. After that, you'll cross into Portugal and drive through the Algarve to Tavira, a town along the River Gilao where you can walk the cobblestone streets, see the old Roman bridge, and try Portuguese food. By the end of the day you'll arrive in Lisbon where the tour finishes.
