Drake Passage to Antarctic Peninsula
Sailing through the Drake Passage comes next, crossing those notoriously rough waters between Patagonia and Antarctica. The ship's X-Bow technology helps manage the fierce westerly winds of the Roaring Fifties. Your Expedition Leader gives safety briefings and talks about Antarctic exploration and the wildlife you'll encounter. By day three, you'll cross the Antarctic Convergence where the water temperature shifts and marine life becomes more abundant. Watch for petrels, albatrosses, penguins, seals, and whales. Weather permitting, you'll land on the South Shetland Islands in the afternoon.

Antarctic Peninsula Exploration
The next five days focus on moving west along the Antarctic Peninsula into the Gerlache Strait. Your Expedition Leader and Captain navigate through the ice to show you the region's natural features. You'll take Zodiac cruises in Paradise Bay, see penguin nesting sites on Cuverville Island, explore old huts at Damoy Point, and possibly spot humpback whales in Wilhelmina Bay. The Lemaire Channel offers incredible scenery and wildlife viewing. The goal is reaching the Antarctic Circle. Exact stops depend on weather and ice conditions, so plans may shift.
