Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Ushuaia

You'll arrive in Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, and have time to explore the Patagonian landscape before your voyage begins. Walk through the forests around town, check out the local area, or take an optional day trip into Tierra del Fuego if you want to see the raw wilderness. Later in the afternoon, head to the dock and board your expedition vessel. You'll go through the mandatory safety drill, and then the ship sets sail through the Beagle Channel heading toward the Drake Passage.

    Included Activities

    • Embarkation shuttle transfer from Ushuaia city centre to vessel
    • Safety drill
    • Sailing through Beagle Channel

    Optional Activities

    • Explore Ushuaia city
    • Walk in surrounding forests

  2. Days 2 - 3

    Drake Passage to Antarctic Peninsula

Sailing through the Drake Passage comes next, crossing those notoriously rough waters between Patagonia and Antarctica. The ship's X-Bow technology helps manage the fierce westerly winds of the Roaring Fifties. Your Expedition Leader gives safety briefings and talks about Antarctic exploration and the wildlife you'll encounter. By day three, you'll cross the Antarctic Convergence where the water temperature shifts and marine life becomes more abundant. Watch for petrels, albatrosses, penguins, seals, and whales. Weather permitting, you'll land on the South Shetland Islands in the afternoon.

    • Biosecuring gear assistance

  3. Days 4 - 8

    Antarctic Peninsula Exploration

The next five days focus on moving west along the Antarctic Peninsula into the Gerlache Strait. Your Expedition Leader and Captain navigate through the ice to show you the region's natural features. You'll take Zodiac cruises in Paradise Bay, see penguin nesting sites on Cuverville Island, explore old huts at Damoy Point, and possibly spot humpback whales in Wilhelmina Bay. The Lemaire Channel offers incredible scenery and wildlife viewing. The goal is reaching the Antarctic Circle. Exact stops depend on weather and ice conditions, so plans may shift. Between activities, attend onboard lectures, enjoy wine-tasting, or relax at the spa.

  4. Day 9

    South Shetland Islands

Your time in Antarctica concludes in the South Shetland Islands, the northernmost part of the continent. These islands have Gentoo and Chinstrap penguin colonies and Giant Petrels despite the harsh conditions. Explore the ice-capped peaks of Livingstone, Greenwich, and King George Islands. Deception Island offers a volcanic landscape with black sand beaches and historic structures. You can visit penguin colonies on Aitcho and Half Moon Islands, or see Yankee Harbour where sealers once worked. This is your last chance to experience the Antarctic wilderness before heading north.

On your final evening, join the Captain and Officers for a Farewell Cocktail Party. The itinerary was amazing. We had perfect weather and were able to get out on the zodiacs or land twice a day when we were near land. We even had a landing on an iceberg
