- ALinda· June 5th, 2025Loved meeting Santa and his elf. The sleigh ride was fun except it was -30F and very cold. Helsinki is beautiful with a rich history. I would like to explore that further. The outdoor markets were fun with so many handmade items! Then there was the trill of having crossed the arctic circle into Lapland and meeting the Sami people. Of course the icing on the cake was seeing the aurora borealis. Enjoyed Nordic food, customs and people. The Finnish language is very hard, but everyone we met spoke excellent English. They made us feel welcomed and wanted there. The dog sledding was a highlight, but the reindeer sleigh and Santa Claus visit were wonderful, as well. Our guide was wonderful and thoroughly knowledgeable about Finland. While on the reindeer sled ride there was a special time when we saw all the colors (green, pink, purple) and the lights really "danced" for about a minute and a half.
