Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to Keswick
You'll leave Edinburgh early morning and head south through the Scottish Borders, passing Moffat along the way before crossing into England. In Penrith, there's time to see the castle ruins and grab lunch. After that, you'll enter Lake District National Park and follow the northern edge of Ullswater. If you're interested, there's an optional walk out to Aira Force waterfall. Before reaching Keswick for the evening, you'll stop at Castlerigg stone circle, which dates back centuries. Once you arrive in Keswick, you'll have the rest of the day free to explore the town.

- Day 2
Lake District
After breakfast, you'll head to the southern shores of Ullswater, then cross over Kirkstone Pass to reach Lake Windermere. The day includes a 45-minute cruise on the lake (or you can choose to have lunch with views instead). From there, you'll check out Coniston Water and wander through Hawkshead village. Later in the day, you'll travel north to Grasmere where you get free time to visit Wordsworth's Dove Cottage, try the local gingerbread, or just relax in the gardens. By late afternoon, you'll head back to Keswick.

- Day 3
Keswick to Edinburgh
You'll leave your accommodation and head into Whinlatter Forest Park, going over the Whinlatter Pass. The route takes you through High Lorton village, then past Crummock Water and Buttermere before tackling Honister Mountain Pass. You'll stop at the old slate workings where craftspeople still practice traditional techniques. After wandering through Borrowdale's forests and passing Derwent Water (where you'll stop for lunch and shopping), you'll begin heading back north toward Penrith and cross back into Scotland. There's a stop in historic Biggar, then a scenic drive through the border hills takes you back to Edinburgh, arriving around 19:00.
