- Day 1
Edinburgh to Grantown-on-Spey
Your Scottish whisky adventure kicks off in Edinburgh, and from there you'll head north through Fife to reach Lindores Abbey Distillery, a significant spot since it's Scotland's first recorded distillery dating back to 1494. The drive takes you into Cairngorms National Park, where you'll stop in Braemar for lunch before moving on to Whisky Castle for a tasting of three Speyside whiskies. By evening you'll settle into your base in Grantown-on-Spey, positioned perfectly for the whisky region exploration ahead.

Grantown-on-Spey
This day focuses on the Speyside whisky region with several stops. You'll visit Cardhu Distillery, historically important as it was founded by Helen Cumming, Scotland's first female distillery pioneer, and you'll sample four drams including two pulled directly from the cask. After lunch in Aberlour, head to Speyside Cooperage to see how whisky barrels are made and understand that part of the process. Next comes Speyburn Distillery where you'll taste whiskies aged in different types of casks. If conditions allow, the day rounds out with a visit to Sueno's Stone, an impressive Pictish standing stone that's worth the detour.

Grantown-on-Spey to Edinburgh
Start early at Dalwhinnie Distillery in the Cairngorms for a whisky and chocolate pairing tasting, then drive south to Pitlochry where you can shop, eat lunch at one of the local restaurants, and take a break. After that, walk through the Hermitage forest to see the old Douglas firs and the waterfall dropping through the trees. The charming village of Dunkeld is your next stop before heading back toward Edinburgh. Along the way you'll cross the South Queensferry bridges spanning the Firth of Forth, which gives you a final impressive moment before wrapping up your trip.
