- Day 1
Cairo
After landing at Cairo International Airport, you'll meet your representative who'll take you by private transfer to your hotel. Check in and get settled for your first night in the city.

Alexandria
Today's an optional full-day trip to Alexandria, the historic port city about two hours north. You'll see the Roman amphitheater, walk through the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, check out where the ancient Pharos lighthouse once stood, and visit the 15th-century Citadel of Qaitbay right on the coast.

Cairo
This is Cairo's major monuments day. You'll head to the Pyramids and see the Sphinx, then spend time at the Egyptian Museum looking at Tutankhamun's treasures. The new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza will be part of the tour once it opens to the public. If you want, there's an optional Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids in the evening.

- Day 4
Cairo to Luxor
Early morning transfer gets you to Cairo airport for your flight to Luxor. Once you're on board your 5-star river cruise and have lunch, head into town to see Luxor Temple and the massive Temple of Karnak with its tall columns. Back to the ship for dinner as you dock overnight in Luxor.

- Day 5
Luxor to Edfu
Spending the day on Luxor's west bank exploring the Valley of the Kings with 64 tombs carved into the rock, the Temple of Hatshepsut sitting beneath the cliffs at Deir el Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon standing huge in the desert. From there, the ship sails to Edfu where you'll have dinner on board.

- Day 6
Edfu to Aswan
Start with the Temple of Horus at Edfu, then cruise south to the Temple at Kom Ombo right on the river. You'll explore the hypostyle halls, burial chambers, and see mummified crocodiles from the twin temple that honored Pharaohs Sobek and Haroeris. Later the ship docks in Aswan for three nights with the Aga Khan Mausoleum visible.

Aswan
This day is set aside for optional activities in Aswan. You can visit the Nubian Museum to learn about one of Africa's oldest civilizations, or take a coach excursion to Abu Simbel temples far south with their huge monuments to Ramses II and the goddess Hathor carved right into the mountainside.

- Day 8
Aswan
Head out to see Philae Temple, an ancient site dedicated to the goddess Isis that was relocated to Agilkia Island in the 1960s during the Aswan dam project. You'll also visit the High Dam built from 1960 to 1970 for hydroelectric power and flood control. There's an optional afternoon visit to a Nubian Village before returning to ship for dinner.

Edfu
As the river cruise sails north today, it's mostly a relaxation day on board. You can swim in the pool, hang out on deck, or just watch the Nile landscape go by. The ship docks overnight in Edfu.

Luxor
The final day on the river cruise brings you back downstream to Luxor for the last night on board. Relax on the deck, try meals from the dining options, swim if you want, and take in the Nile scenery one last time before arriving back in Luxor.

Luxor to Cairo
Say goodbye to the ship and your Egyptian crew. You'll transfer to Luxor airport for your domestic flight back to Cairo, then head to the international terminal for your flight home.
