Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
Your adventure starts with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a thrilling ride over the Himalayan peaks that sets the tone for what's ahead. Once you land, the trek begins as you head down toward the Dudh Koshi River. You'll walk through Sherpa villages and forested areas on your way to Phakding, where you'll stay your first night. The trail gives you a good introduction to the landscape and the rhythm of trekking at this elevation (around 8,500 feet/2,600 meters).

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
From Phakding, you trek along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags strung across the valley. The route takes you up through pine forests as you gradually gain elevation, and on clear days you'll start seeing Everest in the distance along with the surrounding peaks. By afternoon you reach Namche Bazaar (11,286 feet/3,440 meters), the main hub for trekkers in the region. This is where you'll spend the next couple of days acclimatizing to the altitude.

- Day 3
Namche Bazaar
Today you stay put in Namche to let your body adjust to the higher altitude. Spend time walking through the local markets where you'll find everything from trekking supplies to traditional goods, and get a sense of how Sherpa communities operate in this mountain town. In the afternoon, hike up to Everest View Hotel for views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other peaks from a different angle. The walk takes about two hours and gives you another chance to move around while acclimatizing. Return to town for dinner and an early night.

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
The trek continues on scenic trails with views of Everest and the peaks around it. You'll pass through rhododendron forests (particularly colorful if you're trekking in spring), then cross the Imja Khola River before making your way to Tengboche (12,664 feet/3,860 meters). The village sits at a high point with its famous monastery perched above, and you'll have the chance to explore the area once you arrive. The day involves some up and down but at a manageable pace after your acclimatization days.

Tengboche to Dingboche
You head down through forested terrain and cross the Imja River, then start climbing toward Pangboche village. After passing through Pangboche, continue on to Dingboche (14,468 feet/4,410 meters), another acclimatization stop that sits in a wide valley. Ama Dablam dominates the views here, and the village has lodges where trekkers typically stay. The day's pace is moderate, with elevation gain balanced by the descent earlier in the trek. Your body continues adjusting to the thinner air at this altitude.

- Day 6
Dingboche to Everest Base Camp/Kalapatther by Helicopter
An early helicopter flight takes you from Dingboche toward Everest Base Camp or Kalapatther, depending on conditions and logistics. You'll have roughly 30 minutes to explore and take in the views of Everest and the surrounding glaciers and peaks from ground level or from the higher vantage point. Then it's back into the helicopter and down to Lukla (9,383 feet/2,860 meters). This day skips the long trek and gives you direct access to the high altitude areas without spending days walking there.

- Day 7
Lukla to Kathmandu
An early morning flight takes you back to Kathmandu from Lukla, and on the way you'll catch final views of the Everest region and the Himalayan range. Once you land in Kathmandu, head to your hotel to rest and recover. You can spend the afternoon relaxing, doing laundry, or just taking it easy after your time in the mountains. By evening you'll be settled back in the city, reflecting on the trek and the views you've had over the past week or so.
