The first part is manageable as you pass through Monjo and Jorsalle, but the second half gets steeper with a challenging climb through blue pine forests. You'll reach Namche Bazaar with your first direct look at Mt. Everest. This trading hub is where you can check equipment, hire additional gear for higher altitudes, and explore the local scene.

Today you're staying in Namche Bazaar to let your body adjust to the altitude. Rather than just sitting around, health experts suggest keeping active, so you have several options. You could take a short walk to Everest View Resort, head to Thame, explore Khunde, or wander around Namche itself. The Tourist Visitor Center is only about 100 metres away and shows artifacts from early Everest expeditions along with information about Sherpa culture and local wildlife and plants.

This 4-5 hour walk takes you through rhododendron forests past mani walls and stone stupas, stopping at Phunge Thanka for lunch. After eating, you'll cross a suspension bridge and then face a tough 1.5-hour climb to reach Tengboche. You'll arrive at Tengboche Monastery, the region's largest, and attend the evening prayer ceremony with the monks.

The trek goes down through rhododendron forests to Deboche, where you cross an exciting bridge over the rushing Imja Khola. From there the path climbs gradually through Pangboche and Somare village where you'll stop for lunch. You'll reach Dughla for a photo stop or lunch before the tougher mountaineering section toward Labuche. From Dughla the climb gets harder with a demanding push up to the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glacier, taking roughly an hour. At the top sit stone monuments honoring climbers who didn't return. You'll trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp traveling across the broad Gorak-Shep plateau. Along the way you'll see memorials for Indian army mountaineers. The route can be hard to follow so staying close to your guide matters. The thin air at this altitude makes walking exhausting as you cross rocky terrain, moraine, and streams. At Everest Base Camp you'll see some of the world's highest peaks standing out starkly against the gray landscape, especially noticeable in spring. Khumbuste, Nuptse, and Pumori rise all around. You'll return to Gorak Shep for the night.

The EBC trek return by helicopter was a pleasant experience, thanks to the well-organized logistics and transportation arrangements made by this company. Everything ran smoothly, allowing me and my friends to focus on enjoying the journey. Our guide Lakpa was a true gem. His knowledge and friendly demeanor made the trek even more enjoyable. He was always there to assist us and went out of his way to find good guest houses for our stay, despite the off-season challenges. I highly recommend this trek and the services provided by this company, particularly the exceptional guide services of Lakpa.

I recently completed the 9 Days Challenging EBC Trek and it was an experience of a lifetime. The trek was challenging, but our guide was excellent and made sure we were safe and comfortable throughout the journey. The trekking company we booked with provided us with the best guide and porter who were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The views were breathtaking and we were able to witness the beauty of the Himalayas up close. The trek was well-organized, and we had a great itinerary that allowed us to acclimatize properly. The accommodations provided were comfortable and clean. Overall, I highly recommend this trek to anyone looking for a challenging adventure in the Himalayas, and I highly recommend booking with a good company that provides excellent guides and porters.
