Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
You'll get picked up early from your hotel for the mountain flight out of Kathmandu to Lukla, with views of the Himalayan peaks including Mt. Everest along the way. Once you land, you'll meet your local Sherpas and start walking to Phakding. The trek takes about 4 hours through pine and cedar forests as you follow the Dudh Kosi River. By evening you'll settle into a tea house for your first night.

Phakding to Namche Bazaar
After breakfast in the mountain, you'll hike 5-6 hours toward Namche Bazaar. The route crosses the Dudh Kosi River and moves through the Khumbu valley where porters have walked for generations. The first part is manageable as you pass through Monjo and Jorsalle, but the second half gets steeper with a challenging climb through blue pine forests. You'll reach Namche Bazaar with your first direct look at Mt. Everest. This trading hub is where you can check equipment, hire additional gear for higher altitudes, and explore the local scene.

Namche Bazaar (Acclimatization)
Today you're staying in Namche Bazaar to let your body adjust to the altitude. Rather than just sitting around, health experts suggest keeping active, so you have several options. You could take a short walk to Everest View Resort, head to Thame, explore Khunde, or wander around Namche itself. The Tourist Visitor Center is only about 100 metres away and shows artifacts from early Everest expeditions along with information about Sherpa culture and local wildlife and plants.

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
The trek from Namche to Tengboche covers mountain paths with close views of peaks like Thamserku, Kantega, and Ama-Dablam, plus distant looks at Mt. Everest and Lhotse. This 4-5 hour walk takes you through rhododendron forests past mani walls and stone stupas, stopping at Phunge Thanka for lunch. After eating, you'll cross a suspension bridge and then face a tough 1.5-hour climb to reach Tengboche. You'll arrive at Tengboche Monastery, the region's largest, and attend the evening prayer ceremony with the monks.

Tengboche to Dingboche
If you missed the monastery ceremony last night, there's an optional early morning session. After breakfast with mountain views at your lodge, you'll organize your pack and stretch before heading out. The trek goes down through rhododendron forests to Deboche, where you cross an exciting bridge over the rushing Imja Khola. From there the path climbs gradually through Pangboche and Somare village where you'll stop for lunch. Later you'll follow a slow, gentle stage along the valley wall crossing open plains until the valley splits.

Dingboche to Labuche
Starting from Dingboche after breakfast, you'll begin a significant climb toward Pheritse village. The path moves slowly through an extensive alpine valley with views of Ama-Dablam, Lhotse, Phortse peak, and Cholatse. You'll reach Dughla for a photo stop or lunch before the tougher mountaineering section toward Labuche. From Dughla the climb gets harder with a demanding push up to the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glacier, taking roughly an hour. At the top sit stone monuments honoring climbers who didn't return. The afternoon brings views of Pumori, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Labuche peak.

Labuche to Mt. Everest Base Camp to Gorak Shep
You'll trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp traveling across the broad Gorak-Shep plateau. Along the way you'll see memorials for Indian army mountaineers. The route can be hard to follow so staying close to your guide matters. The thin air at this altitude makes walking exhausting as you cross rocky terrain, moraine, and streams. At Everest Base Camp you'll see some of the world's highest peaks standing out starkly against the gray landscape, especially noticeable in spring. Khumbuste, Nuptse, and Pumori rise all around. You'll return to Gorak Shep for the night.

Gorak Shep to Kala Pathar to Lukla
Start early to watch the sunrise from Kala Pathar, a photographer's ideal spot with 360-degree peak views and Mt. Everest directly in front of you. After getting your photos, you'll head back down to Gorakshep for breakfast. Then you'll prepare for a scenic helicopter flight back to Lukla with great views of the surrounding mountains. Once back in Lukla, you can rest and enjoy quality food and lodging. Spend time visiting local spots, trying local food, or celebrating with your trekking team. A farewell dinner with the group will be arranged.

An early flight takes you from Lukla back to Kathmandu. When you land, rest or do some shopping and visit places you might have missed on arrival. Your guides will help with picking souvenirs or seeing more sights. This evening you'll have a farewell dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant with a cultural dance performance included.
