If you are looking for somewhere off the beaten track and gorgeous scenery then this is somewhere that you probably wouldn't have considered but it is highly recommended. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and the people were very friendly and inquisitive everywhere we went. For some looking at the destination there might be some trepidation concerning safety issues but no once did I feel unsafe.

It came as a surprise that it was only the two of us on our group tour, and we would have appreciated knowing beforehand that no one else had booked the tour. That said we quickly got used to it and found it quite the priviledge. I was very pleased with our guide Islam and our driver Karim who did a superb job at making it a memorable trip. If I were to make a recommendations it would be to have some more information from day to day about what to expect the day ahead fx. what shoes to wear, warm clothes to leave out or packing a day pack with extra clothes for Fairy Meadows. I would also have found it very convenient to know there would be five days (Naran to Skardu) with neither telephone or net, only to have the chance to tell family at home I wouldn't be reachable and not to be concerned. The hotels met our expectations, but we did find on several occasions that the beds had been made, but the sheets not changed, and we had to ask for clean sheets. I would recommend to put on the packing list a sheet, fx. the one you can buy for inside a sleeping bag. I loved the itiniary and the open jeep. The mountains were breathtaking and the roads equally so, but for different reasons;-) Islam was especially good in the mountains, he knows the mountains so well, and it felt very safe to hike with him. And making it to Nanga Parpat basecamp was one of the best days.

One of (if not THE) best trip I've ever been on. I had never overlanded or wild camped before, so I was a bit worried... It was the silk road, Kyrgyzstan to Turkmenistan, 7 weeks. 3 year ago and still pops to mind at least every week. Couldn't recommend Oasis Overland more.
