- Day 1
Colombo
You'll land at Bandaranaike International Airport where your wildlife guide will meet you. From there, transfer to Colombo and check into your hotel. If you have time before dinner, you can walk through Colombo's historic streets and check out the colorful back alleys and landmarks on your own or with a brief city tour. Dinner is at the hotel.

Colombo to Yala
After breakfast, head toward Yala and stop in Galle along the way. This historic World Heritage site shows influences from Chinese, Persian, Arab, Dutch, Portuguese, and British cultures with colonial buildings and cafes scattered throughout. You'll visit Handunugoda Tea Estate where the manager shows you how Virgin White tea is produced, walks you through the plantation, and lets you sample over 20 different teas. Later you'll continue to Yala and check in at your resort for dinner.

- Day 3
Yala National Park
Get up early for a morning Jeep safari in Yala National Park with your wildlife guide, looking for Sri Lankan leopards, sloth bears, and elephants. You're back at the hotel by mid-morning for breakfast and free time. In the afternoon, head out for a second safari exploring a different part of the park. Return for an early dinner and the night.

Yala National Park
Leave at 5:30 AM for a game drive in Block 1 of Yala, focusing on finding the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. You'll be back by mid-morning for breakfast and relaxation. At 2:30 PM, your final 3-hour game drive takes you through Block 1 again with your guide discussing the local plants, animals, and ancient civilizations in the area. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Yala to Udawalawe
Starting after breakfast, the drive to Udawalawe takes about 2 hours. You'll visit the Elephant Transit Home, a rehabilitation center for injured or orphaned elephants, where you can see these animals recovering and meet baby Bhanu. Have lunch, then go to Udawalawe National Park to watch elephants in the wild along with spotted deer, sambar deer, and birds. Stay overnight at the resort after dinner.

Udawalawe to Sinharaja
After breakfast, travel to the Rainforest Eco Lodge at Sinharaja, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Sri Lanka's last lowland rainforest covering roughly 11,187 hectares. The lodge has a LEED Platinum award for sustainable tourism. You'll explore mixed-species bird flocks with up to 48 different species including 12 endemic types like the red-faced malkoha and Sri Lanka blue magpie. Later take a short walk around the local area before dinner.

Sinharaja Rainforest
Starting at 5:30 AM, you'll trek through Sinharaja Rainforest for 3-4 hours with a biologist who knows the area well. This is Sri Lanka's last surviving primary tropical rainforest where over 60 percent of trees are endemic. You'll see mixed bird flocks, butterflies like the Ceylon Birdwing and Blue Mormon, and reptiles including endemic green pit vipers and tree frogs. After breakfast and rest at the lodge, do a second 3-hour trek after lunch. Dinner and overnight at the resort.
