The route takes you through inland valleys following the Nehalem River and Highway 101, then you'll climb up to Neahkahnie Viewpoint before descending into Manzanita. Along the way, watch for snowy plovers if you pass through Nehalem Bay State Park. Once you reach Rockaway Beach, you can walk the open beach, explore the rocky sea stacks, or check out the Old Growth Nature Preserve where there's a 900-year-old western red cedar.

The route goes past Bayocean Peninsula and over Cape Meares to its lighthouse. Stop at Jacobson Salt Co. to sample locally infused salts, then have lunch at Cape Lookout State Park. After that, you'll ride through the sand dunes at Sand Lake Recreation Area. For the evening, you're staying at the Inn at Cape Kiwanda and can grab dinner at Pelican Brewery right on the beach with sunset views.

How do you get from the airport to the first day of tour? Do they pick you up from airport?

We have set pick-up locations and times for each tour. For the Willamette Valley we can pick up at the Portland International Airport at 7:15am, an airport hotel at 7:30am and a downtown Portland hotel at 8:00am. Most guests will fly into their pick-up city at least the night before their tour so they have some time to acclimate and get ready to ride as we do start riding bikes within a couple of hours of pick-up on our tours. In Portland, there's a great light rail train that goes from the airport to downtown so a lot of our guests use that option. There are also always taxis and rideshare options if you don't want to use the train.
