Basel
Your Rhine river cruise begins in Basel when you board the AMADEUS Star at 4:00pm. You'll settle into your luxury stateroom and get comfortable before the ship departs late this afternoon. The welcome cocktail and welcome dinner kick off your trip, so you can relax and meet fellow travelers on your floating hotel.

Strasbourg
You'll wake up docked in Strasbourg, the romantic capital of Alsace in France. Spend your morning walking around the historic old town on your own or join a guided tour if you prefer. In the afternoon, you could venture out along the famous wine route to see charming wine-growing villages. The ship leaves late tonight, so you'll have most of the day to explore.

Mannheim
The ship arrives in Speyer before breakfast, giving you time to check out this historic Holy Roman Empire city. You can join a guided discovery tour that features the imperial cathedral and includes a pretzel tasting to learn about the famous German Brezel. During lunch, the ship moves on to Mannheim, where you'll have the option to take an excursion to nearby Heidelberg with its Baroque old town, or explore at your own pace.

Koblenz
You'll spend the morning in Rüdesheim, a wine-making town in the Rhine Valley. Choose between a guided tour that includes the Mechanical Music Cabinet Museum, or head to a local vineyard for wine tasting and a walk along the lively Drosselgasse. Later, the ship cruises through the Upper Middle Rhine Valley with views of the Lorelei Rock. You'll arrive in Koblenz for the afternoon and can take a leisurely walk through the pedestrian area.

Koblenz
After breakfast, you'll explore the Moselle Valley on an excursion to Cochem, where you can see the Reichsburg castle overlooking the town. Wander through narrow streets lined with half-timbered houses and try local wines. Back on the ship for lunch, then in the afternoon you'll visit Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. This evening is special because the ship positions itself on the river to watch a music-synchronized fireworks display from the Sun Deck during Rhine in Flames Festival. After dinner and the show, you'll continue toward Cologne.

Cologne
You'll arrive early in Cologne, Germany's vibrant cathedral city. A walking tour takes you through the gothic old town where you can sample local Kölsch beer and see the famous Cologne Cathedral. After lunch, the ship departs for an afternoon of cruising along the river.

Amsterdam
The ship crosses into the Netherlands and you'll arrive in Amsterdam by breakfast. This canal city has lots to do and see. You can explore by canal boat or take an optional excursion to the Waterland countryside, visiting the villages of Volendam and Edam where you'll have a Dutch cheese tasting. This evening, the Captain invites you to a festive Gala Dinner followed by a Shanty Choir performance. The ship stays in Amsterdam overnight.
