Reykjavik
Your adventure kicks off with an overnight in Reykjavik. Walk down Laugavegur street to check out boutiques and outdoor gear shops, then head to Hallgrímskirkja Church with its striking architecture. The Reykjavik Art Museum is worth a visit too if you have time. If you're interested, you can book a pre-program option to see some of Iceland's natural highlights before the cruise starts.

Reykjavik to Nuuk
Early in the morning you'll fly from Reykjavik to Nuuk, Greenland's capital. Once there, wander through the old town by the waterfront where you'll see Nuuk Cathedral and a statue of Hans Egede, plus the Mother of the Sea statue in the water. Later you'll board the MS Roald Amundsen, get your complimentary expedition jacket, settle into your cabin, and have your first dinner on the ship.

Sailing toward South Greenland
During the sail south, the expedition team gives presentations on AECO rules and Arctic operations. You'll have access to the ship's modern facilities and can join lectures covering ornithology, geology, and culture. There's also information about citizen science projects you can participate in. Weather permitting, the ship will cruise into Kuannersooq Fjord during the afternoon.

Greenlandic life at the edge of the ice cap
South Greenland combines Norse history with Inuit culture and dramatic landscapes. Depending on conditions, you might visit the Viking settler ruins at Kujataa UNESCO World Heritage Site, the colorful town of Qassiarsuk with Brattahlíð and Hvalsey, or Qaqortoq. You'll see fjords, mountains, glaciers, and icebergs while exploring cultural sites and doing outdoor activities.

Sailing toward Torngat Mountains
Spending the day at sea as the ship crosses Baffin Bay toward Labrador's rugged coast. The expedition team offers presentations on biology, ornithology, or regional history. There's storytelling, art and craft workshops, and sometimes singing. In September, keep an eye out for the northern lights; if they appear, you might get a gentle wake-up call to come see them.

Witness the immense Torngat Mountains
After clearing Canadian customs, park rangers join the expedition team to explore Torngat Mountains National Park. This vast wilderness covers 6,000 square miles with small glaciers, polar bears, and caribou. You'll learn about the Inuit hunting and fishing heritage while visiting possible destinations like Saglek Bay, Nachvak Fiord, and Ramah.

Head back in time and delve into the history of Labrador
The ship heads south along Labrador's coast to explore its history and cultural heritage. You'll visit important Moravian settlements and see an old fishing village that's now a National Historic Site. The route takes you through beautiful waterways while learning about the region's whaling past. Possible stops include Hebron, Mugford Tickle, Hopedale, Battle Harbour, and Red Bay.

The expedition wraps up in St. John's, Newfoundland's capital and one of North America's oldest cities. Walk through neighborhoods with colorful houses built on steep hillsides, and head up to Cabot Tower on Signal Hill for views over the city. Take time to explore before you leave, and reflect on everything you've experienced during the Arctic voyage.
