Amazing tour, definitely ticked loads of boxes for sightseeing for me, compact schedule meant we were able to squeeze a lot in. Juno our guide was very insightful and was able to give us lots of detailed information and recommendations for our free time, he also always made sure to accommodate our dietary requirements (vegetarian) which made group meals much more enjoyable and stress free. Expect to be on your feet a lot throughout the tour and to walk fairly quickly around train stations to make sure you stick with the group.

The itinerary, guide, accommodation...everything was fantastic! i should have read some of the fine print so i would have known we were going to be walking 15,000 to 25,000 steps per day, and always taking public transportation. It was also my neglect of fine print that caused me to miss out on extra activities that needed to be booked ahead of time. Have 2 pairs of very good, broken in shoes, and prepare for all seasons. I have a new appreciation for the country and the people!

  • I

    Irene

    Asked on September 18th, 2025

is it possible to upgrade to 4 star hotels? Also, what is the typical size of this group. I am looking for less than 10 people.

    Accommodation
    Group size
    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten September 2025

The hotels are are clean, comfortable, and well located. Whilst they are listed as 3*, in Japan they have a high standard and these can feel more like 4* hotels. The group size can vary for each departure date, but the maximum group size is around 14 people. However, looking at the group sizes in 2025 they were smaller in size: - 17-March-25 - we had a group of 7 - 31-March-25 - we had a group of 5. Travelling in April (peak season) we saw larger groups. Whilst we can't guarantee a specific group size, you do tend to see smaller groups on this tour outside of the peak seasons, which is nice.

  • J

    Joel

    Asked on September 2nd, 2025

How much is needed to reserve the tour, and when would the payment be due? Is it possible to book it now and pay the balance after September 26, is it possible?

    Payments
    Price / Availability
    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten September 2025

We require a 10% deposit with the remaining amount due 70 days before your trip departure date. It's possible to set up an instalment plan so that you can pay back the trip on a monthly basis.

    • J

      Joel

      TravelerWritten September 2025

We are planning to go this November 2025. That's why we are asking if possible to pay the balance due after September 26th, 2025

    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten September 2025

For the 3rd November 2025 departure, we would need full payment because it's less than 70 days until departure. We need the funds to make booking arrangements. If you need to wait until 26th September to pay, you can wait, but we can't guarantee you a space on the trip without full payment.

    Asked on July 16th, 2025

Can you please confirm what types of hotels would be booked on this tour? Can you confirm if they will be actual hotels and NOT hostels?

    Accommodation
    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten July 2025

For the 11-day Japan Plus Tour, the standard accommodation is 3* hotels throughout, plus 1 night in a traditional style Japanese Tatami Mat room. We do not use hostels for this tour.

I thought it was 4 star hotels though? That is what the title says

    • J

      Jade

      TravelerWritten July 2025

Under the 'what's included' section in the accommodations list, you list '3 and 4 star hotels'

    • J

      Jade

      TravelerWritten July 2025

Can you give me an example of one of the 3 star hotels you book? So I can look it up on my end. That might be a deal breaker because my clients want 4 star hotels.

    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten July 2025

Tokyo: The Knot Tokyo Shinjuku, Hakone: Susukinohara Ichinoyu, Kyoto: M's Hotel Gojo, Hiroshima: En Hotel Hiroshima, Osaka: Tokyu Stay Osaka Hommachi. 4-star accommodation in Japan would be considerably more expensive than the trip price we're offering.

      TravelerWritten August 2025

My client is still interested in this tour. However, i have a question about the exclusions on the tour. Under the insurance part, it says travel insurance is not included but that they need the insurance. Is that true? How does that work? How can they purchase insurance?

    • J

      Jade

      TravelerWritten August 2025

      Is it required though?

    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten August 2025

Yes, a basic level of travel insurance is a requirement to join one of our trips. This is so you're covered for any emergency situations that might occur i.e. health related, loss of luggage, cancelled flight etc... You will need to bring proof of your travel insurance with you when you join the trip on Day-1.

    • J

      Jade

      TravelerWritten August 2025

Can my client use the travel insurance that comes with their Credit Card?

    • The Dragon TripOperatorWritten August 2025

As long as your clients have some level of travel insurance they're covered for, then we can accept them onto the trip. They will need to bring the proof of travel insurance with them on arrival to show the adventure leader. If they already have travel insurance through a credit card provider, then this would be accepted.

There's still availability for 2 people to join the trip departing on the 30th March 2026. The other trip we have available is the 13-Day Japan Tour: Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka & Beyond. Both the 11-Day and 13-Day trip spend just 2 days in Osaka. If needed, we can book you an additional night in Osaka for the end of the trip or pre-nights accommodation in Tokyo.

I have two weeks to tour Japan's main sites. I hope to locate a reasonably priced 10-12-day tour, and I may join it.

I'll check if we have anything available, however, I think it's very unlikely at this stage. Additionally, our tours typically start in Tokyo and finish in Osaka.

Private departures are typically at least 35% more expensive than joining an existing group tour. The minimum price per person would be 6750 USD. However, we would need to submit a request with our Japan team and the price can be higher.
