Nairobi
You'll arrive in Nairobi and have the rest of the day to settle in at your own pace. The city's got plenty to explore if you're not too tired from your flight, with local restaurants serving Swahili dishes and bustling markets throughout the streets. It's a good day to get acclimated and grab some rest before things get going.

Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
Early breakfast happens before heading out toward Lake Nakuru National Park in the Great Rift Valley. The drive takes you through rolling terrain and small towns, giving you a feel for the landscape. By afternoon you're on a game drive where you'll look for rhinos (they're endangered, so spotting them is special), giraffes, and the flamingos the park is known for. The pink coloring of the water comes from the algae and makes for a striking sight.

Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara
The route climbs through Kenya's highlands and then opens up into Maasai Mara. As soon as you arrive, you get straight into an introductory game drive across the savannah. The golden grass, scattered acacia trees, and open horizons are what you came for. You'll start watching for wildlife right away, and the Big Five are all here if luck is on your side.

Maasai Mara
After breakfast you're heading out for a full day of game driving across Maasai Mara. Your packed lunch goes with you so you stay out on the plains longer. Depending on when you're traveling, you might see the Great Migration where thousands of wildebeest and zebras move across the landscape. If they're crossing rivers, you'll also see crocodiles positioned below waiting.

After breakfast you're driving toward the Isebania border to cross into Tanzania. The North Serengeti (around Kogatende and Wagakuria) is less visited than other areas, which means fewer vehicles and more wilderness. Big cats roam here regularly, and if migration season is happening, the river crossings are some of the most intense wildlife moments you'll encounter.

Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Morning game drive in Central Serengeti happens first, then you're heading toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you drive up, the temperature drops and the landscape changes to misty forests. By the time you reach the crater rim, you're looking down at a caldera that's the largest intact one in the world. The views are something else.

Zanzibar to Airport
Your trip wraps up depending on what time your flight leaves. If there's time, breakfast on the beach is a nice way to end things. Then you're transferred to Zanzibar International Airport for your departure. You're leaving with memories of safaris, the people you met, and the feeling of having really seen Africa.
