Nairobi
You'll meet your safari guide and handle tour paperwork to get started. After that, Nairobi opens up with restaurants, hotels, bars, and nightclubs worth checking out. The city has solid museums and wildlife attractions, plus markets and shops that show you how modern Kenya operates. You'll get a real feel for local life here.

Landmarks Nairobi - Day 2
Nairobi National Park
Head into Nairobi National Park for safari drives where rhinos and lions appear regularly alongside giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and wildebeests. Bird watching here is really good with over 500 species recorded in the park. You'll have solid chances of spotting multiple animals in one day.

Landmarks Nairobi National Park - Days 3 - 4
Masai Mara
You're spending two days in the Masai Mara checking out big cats like lions, leopards, and cheetahs hunting across the savannah. Elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and impalas show up regularly, often with those distinctive flat-topped acacia trees in the background. Bird species here number over 500, so bring binoculars.

Serengeti
The Central Serengeti is where you'll find the most wildlife in the park. Big cats and elephants turn up frequently here, and the landscape fills with acacia trees and those wide Serengeti horizons. It's the most popular wildlife area for good reason.

- Day 7
Ngorongoro
Early morning you'll descend to the Ngorongoro Crater floor where the ecosystem works differently. The crater supports about 600 hyenas, critically endangered black rhinos, elephants with larger tusks, and over 50 lions in close quarters. Mist covers steep forested walls and hidden waterways with hippos at sunrise. You'll also do a walking safari in the highlands with a local guide.

Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park is known for its big baobab trees, big elephant herds, and big cats. You'll likely spot wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, baboons, vervet monkeys, and zebras during drives. The park has one of Tanzania's healthiest lion populations, and cheetahs and leopards show up among savannah plains, river woodlands, and rocky hills.

Zanzibar Island
You arrive on Zanzibar Island, which feels completely different from the mainland. The island got wealthy through spice trading, and you'll see that history in the architecture and markets filled with spices. Beaches are fine here and the landscapes are scenic.

Landmarks Zanzibar Island - Day 10
Zanzibar Stone Town
Stone Town has museums and architecture showing East African and Indian Ocean influences throughout. Walk through streets where spice smells mix with the Muslim call to prayer. Later you'll visit Changuu Island to see history and giant tortoises living there.

Nungwi
Nungwi has one of Zanzibar's best beaches and excellent sunset viewing spots. This area used to be a major boat-building center where traditional wooden dhows were made. You can learn about turtle conservation efforts, and on day 11 you'll head to Jozani Forest to find over 40 bird species and the Zanzibar red colobus monkey.
