The accommodation was decent, although I expected a bit more luxury in some places. Drives were the only downside, but with so much to see, it was worth it. The train ride to Kandy was a special experience, and the safari in Yala was a bucket-list item. The roads were long, but the experience was unforgettable. The safari in Yala was absolutely worth it, and I loved the train ride to Kandy, but the long road trips between locations were draining. The hotels were decent, though not extraordinary. The Sigiriya rock fortress was spectacular as well. However, I felt that some of the visits were too short, especially the cultural sites. I wish we had a little more time to explore at our own pace, but overall, it was a great way to see the country. The ancient sites of Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa were just incredible, and the visit to Anuradhapura was like stepping back in time. One mentioned having a great week when the tour is a fortnight. Frequent mentions of appreciation of "the services" is not encouraging.
