    Rome

    You'll arrive in Rome before midday and have the afternoon free for sightseeing. Your skip-the-line Colosseum tickets are already reserved, so you can head straight in without waiting. Later this evening, you'll settle in with a welcome dinner to kick things off.

    We completed the Switzerland by Rail tour followed by the river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. The land based tour requires a lot of walking. There are no transfers from the station to the hotel, with two exceptions, one transfer is by ferry and the other by bus because the hotel is 10 km out of town. All other transfers from 500 mt up to 900 mt are on foot. For the land based tour you need to carry everything with you for the day as your luggage goes by separate courier to the next hotel. There are certain excursions on the land based tour that will be a challenge for older people, or those with health issues. APT do not disclose the risks associated with these prior to selling you the tour. River cruising first class. Consider the additional cost of a balcony room, as during the second week of the cruise, the ships are moored two and three abreast and your balcony is only 1 mt away from the ship next door.

    • For any tour departing before April 13th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after April 13th, 2026, a minimum payment of $1,100 is required to confirm your booking with APT. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 120 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
