- Day 1
Reykjavik
You'll land in Reykjavik and have the rest of the day to explore at your own pace. Walk along Laugavegur to check out the boutiques and shops, then head over to see Hallgrímskirkja church with its distinctive architecture. The Reykjavik Art Museum is worth a visit if you're interested in local art. Since you're staying overnight, there's no rush to do everything. This laid-back city gives you time to get oriented before your Arctic journey starts.

Reykjavik to Nuuk
You'll leave early from Reykjavik and fly to Nuuk, Greenland's capital. The city sits just 150 miles from the Arctic Circle and has colorful buildings set against mountain backdrops. Once you arrive, you'll board the MS Roald Amundsen expedition ship, get your complimentary expedition jacket, and settle into your cabin. Dinner that evening will be your first meal on board.

Crossing the Arctic Circle
The ship heads north toward the Arctic Circle while the Expedition Team covers AECO safety rules and Arctic exploration guidelines. Attendance at mandatory presentations is required if you plan to join the planned landings. You'll have time to explore the ship's facilities, catch lectures on topics like Arctic ornithology and geopolitics, and learn about the citizen science projects happening on board. At some point today, you'll cross into the Arctic Circle and enter the land of the midnight sun.

- Days 4 - 6
Baffin Island Exploration
The ship navigates around Baffin Island where sea ice only melts briefly in August. Your route will adjust based on ice conditions and what local communities need. Possible stops include Isabella Bay, a key habitat for bowhead whales, or Sam Ford Fjord and Gibbs Fjord with their towering peaks and glaciers. Coutts Inlet is another option, a remote fjord system where you might spot narwhals if conditions allow. The focus here is Arctic wildlife viewing in pristine waters.

Day at Sea
Today is a relaxing day at sea as the ship sails north toward the Northwest Passage. You can spend time in the Expedition Lounge and Bar, catch any lectures you missed earlier, enjoy leisurely lunches, or try the hot tubs. This is your chance to recharge before continuing deeper into Arctic exploration.

Lancaster Sound and Devon Island
You'll spend three days sailing deep into Lancaster Sound, the entrance to the Northwest Passage. Dundas Harbour, an old RCMP post, offers hiking and chances to see musk oxen. Beechey Island has significant Arctic exploration history, including graves from the Franklin expedition. Croker Bay has outlet glaciers and possible walrus sightings, and Coburg Island is a protected area known for seabirds and marine mammals.

Baffin Bay Exploration
This day brings a full day of Arctic activities in north Baffin Bay before heading toward northwest Greenland. What you do depends on the Captain and Expedition Team's decisions based on weather and conditions. Activities range from guided landings to kayaking. You'll visit sites tied to early Arctic exploration, connect with Inuit communities, and watch for whales, narwhals, seals, and seabirds.

- Days 13 - 14
Thule Region, Northwest Greenland
You'll explore Greenland's Thule region in the far north, one of the harshest and most remote places in Greenland. This area was first settled by Inuit people around 4,500 years ago. You'll visit local communities and use expedition boats to experience the raw power of the Arctic landscape. If conditions cooperate, you might see walruses, orcas, narwhals, belugas, and possibly polar bears as you sail through icy channels. Route and activities adjust based on weather and ice.

Landmarks Thule Region 

- Day 15
Melville Bay
The ship crosses Melville Bay, a massive bay where ice caps meet the sea along the coast. Locals call it 'The Great Dog Sledding Place,' and the Arctic scenery here is striking as you sail well north of 70 degrees. You'll relax on board, join wildlife watches on deck with the Expedition Team, and attend lectures covering Arctic nature, geology, and regional mythology.

Landmarks Melville Bay (Qimusseriarsuaq) Lauge Koch Coast - Days 16 - 18
West Greenland and Disko Bay
This day explores your final stretch through West Greenland's fjords and Disko Bay, known as the Arctic's 'iceberg factory.' You might visit Uummannaq Fjord and its island town with archaeological sites, or the Qilakitsok site where Greenland mummies were discovered. Viagat Sound offers chances for whale watching including humpbacks and orcas. The UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord has giant icebergs, and you can visit the Icefjord Centre or hike to Sermermiut for views. Route adjusts based on weather.

Final Day at Sea
After exploring western Greenland, you'll have a final day at sea to rest and process the experience. Spot whales and seabirds from the deck, log sightings for the Happywhale citizen science project, enjoy the sauna and heated pool, or book a wellness treatment if you'd like.

Return to Nuuk and Flight to Reykjavik
You'll return to Nuuk and say goodbye to the MS Roald Amundsen, its crew, and the Expedition Team. Nuuk feels like a metropolis compared to the remote towns you've visited over the past two weeks. This modern capital gives you time to reflect on your Arctic experience before flying back to Reykjavik. You'll have an overnight stay at a local hotel.

Reykjavik
Your Arctic journey ends back in Reykjavik, where you have another chance to explore Iceland's capital.
