Itinerary
- Day 1
Madrid to Porto
You'll leave Madrid at 8:00 AM and head toward Salamanca, where you have time to wander around this UNESCO World Heritage city known for its university. The drive takes you through central Spain before crossing into Portugal and continuing to Porto for the night. It's about 6 hours of travel total, so you'll arrive with time to settle in.

Porto
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll join a guided tour of Porto that covers the Cathedral, the Stock Exchange building, and Santa Clara church. Then you board a BlueBoats cruise down the Douro River, which gives you a different perspective of the city from the water. Later, you'll visit a Port Wine Cellar for a tasting session. The rest of your afternoon and evening are free to do as you like.

Coimbra to Fatima
Following breakfast, you travel to Coimbra to see one of Europe's oldest universities and the birthplace of Fado music, then head to Fatima. This religious site includes the Basilica, the Cova da Iria where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared, and the Chapel of the Apparitions with the visionaries' tombs. If you're interested, there's a candlelight procession in the evening you can attend.

Batalha to Lisbon
Your day starts with hotel breakfast, then you visit the Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO site showcasing Gothic and Manueline architecture. From there, you go to Nazare, a fishing town where you'll have free time to walk around. Next, you stop at Alcobaca to see its Gothic church and 12th-century Cistercian monastery. You'll end up in Lisbon with the option of a traditional Fado dinner show if you want it.

Lisbon
After breakfast, a guided tour takes you through Lisbon's main areas, covering the Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, Monument to the Discoverers, Marquis of Pombal Square, and Liberty Avenue. By afternoon, you're on your own to explore the Alfama Quarter with its narrow streets, small tavernas, and the sound of Fado music throughout the neighborhood. It's a good chance to get a feel for traditional Lisbon.

Lisbon to Caceres to Madrid
You depart for Caceres, a UNESCO World Heritage city that blends Roman, Islamic, Gothic, and Italian architectural styles. You'll walk through the Plaza Mayor and the Medieval Quarter before heading back to Madrid to end your tour. This is mostly a travel day, but Caceres is worth seeing if you have time to explore it.
