Kilimanjaro to Moshi
You'll land at Kilimanjaro International Airport and get transferred to Moshi town, which sits as your base for everything ahead. Your guide meets you in the evening so you can go through your gear together and make sure everything's ready for the trek starting tomorrow.

- Day 2
Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Tour
About 30 to 40 minutes outside Moshi, you'll walk to Materuni Waterfalls, a 150-meter drop with smaller cascades along the way through local irrigation channels. In the village, a coffee tour takes you through the whole process from picking beans to roasting and crushing them, then you'll drink what you just made. You'll also learn how the Chagga people live, their homes, food, and how they raise animals.

Moshi to Umbwe Cave Camp
Your driver takes you from Moshi to Umbwe Gate where the park service checks in your gear and you meet the porters. Then the actual climbing begins through rainforest foothills for roughly 5 to 7 hours, heading up to Umbwe Cave Camp sitting at 2,850 meters (9,350 feet).

Umbwe Cave Camp to Barranco Camp
The landscape shifts noticeably as rainforest gives way to mountain heath and big rock formations. You'll follow the narrow Umbwe Ridge down into Barranco Valley where your route joins the Machame Route. After that, you reach Barranco Camp at 3,950 meters (12,960 feet), and you can see the Kibo summit looming above. Tomorrow brings the famous wall climb, so rest up.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Morning starts with the steep Barranco Wall, which involves scrambling and uses your hands but doesn't need technical equipment. Past the wall, you drop into Karanga Valley and walk across toward Karanga Camp at 4,000 meters (13,120 feet). This placement sets you up for the final push ahead.

Karanga Camp to Barafu High Camp
This is your shorter day on the mountain as you climb to Barafu High Camp at 4,645 meters (15,240 feet). You'll get there with time to spare, so rest, check your headlamp and water bottles, and try grabbing a few hours of sleep. Around midnight, you'll head out for the summit push.

- Day 7
Barafu High Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Leaving at midnight, you start the long night trek toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,340 feet). The climb feels relentless as your body gets tired but you keep moving, staying with a steady pace as guides help through the hardest sections. You'll reach the top and watch sunrise break over the clouds, then after photos and a short rest, start the descent back to Barafu for a nap and food before continuing down to Mweka Camp at 3,068 meters (10,065 feet).

From Mweka you descend through forest for 4 to 6 hours covering about 9 kilometers down to Mweka Gate. You'll get your trekking certificate there, meet your vehicle, and head back to Moshi for a hot shower and final dinner celebrating with your guides.

Moshi Departure
