Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Buenos Aires

    You'll arrive in Buenos Aires and check into your hotel in Argentina's capital. The city has a lot of European-influenced architecture worth seeing, including Teatro Colón opera house and the distinctive pink Casa Rosada. If you're interested in art, the National Museum of Fine Arts is here, and La Boca has colorful street murals that function as an open-air museum. Later you could catch a tango show in the evening, then head to a local steakhouse to try authentic Argentine beef.

  2. Day 2

    Buenos Aires to Ushuaia

    This morning you'll leave Buenos Aires early and fly to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. Once you arrive at the port, you'll board MS Fridtjof Nansen and meet the expedition team for a briefing about what's ahead. After settling into your cabin, there's time to explore the ship's facilities, and you'll have views of Martial Glacier visible from the ship.

  3. Days 3 - 4

    Drake Passage Crossing

    During your crossing of the Drake Passage, the expedition team holds briefings at the Science Center covering Antarctic history, climate science, and how polar exploration works. They'll also cover safety protocols and explain the citizen science programs you can participate in. Between sessions you can use the spa, take a swim in the pool, relax in hot tubs, or spend time at the gym. Watch for icebergs, whales, and albatrosses as you travel.

    Antarctica Exploration

    Over the next 11 days you'll explore Antarctica through daily landings and ice cruises. You'll see massive glaciers and cathedral-like icebergs up close, along with penguin colonies, leopard seals, migrating whales, and around 45 bird species. Your captain adjusts the itinerary based on weather as you work toward Marguerite Bay. There are citizen science projects to join, expert lectures to attend, and the onboard photographer can help you document your photos.

  5. Days 16 - 17

    Return Voyage

    You begin heading back to Ushuaia across the Drake Passage, with your final days at sea giving you time to relax and process everything you've seen. Join the expedition team for detailed lectures in the Science Center, keep contributing to citizen science work, and work with the photographer to edit your images. The wellness spa, pool, hot tubs, and explorer lounge are good places to unwind and connect with other travelers.

    • For any tour departing before March 4th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after March 4th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Hurtigruten. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 120 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
