  1. Day 1

    Airport Transfer

    You'll get picked up at the airport and head to your hotel in the old town. Breakfast is included, so that'll get your trip off to a good start right away.

  2. Day 2

    Inland Mountain Tour

    Your guide meets you in the morning and you'll drive inland through cocoa, coffee, banana, rice and tobacco plantations. The route takes you up to 900 meters through mountains, and you'll stop at a tobacco factory and plantation to walk around. After that, head back to your hotel which sits above the Cibao Valley with some nice views.

  3. Day 3

    Santiago to Punta Rucia

    Today you can pick between two options. Either check out Santiago's city center and see the Monument to the Heroes of the Revolution, or visit a tobacco or cocoa plantation instead. Either way, you'll then head north to the fishing village of Punta Rucia where you can grab a tropical drink and take in the sea views.

    Cayo Arena Fishing Boat & Snorkeling

    A fishing boat takes you out in the morning to a small white sandbank so you can explore the underwater coral reefs and see the colorful fish around you. On the way back, you'll travel through the mangroves of the national park. Once you're back at the hotel, spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach.

  5. Day 5

    Punta Rucia to Puerto Plata

    After breakfast, you'll travel to Puerto Plata. Along the way, there's an option to visit the fortress of San Felipe, the spot where Christopher Columbus arrived during his first voyage on January 12, 1493. You'll reach your Puerto Plata hotel later in the afternoon.

    Puerto Plata to Samana Peninsula

    Drive along the north coast heading toward the Samana peninsula. You'll pass through lush areas with rivers, banana plantations, rice fields and impressive coastline the whole way. Stop at some pristine beaches for swimming and try a typical Dominican lunch, then dip into crystal-clear lagoons for a quick refresh.

    Los Haitises National Park Boat Tour

    Take a boat through Los Haitises National Park, sailing past deserted islands, bays and rock formations. You'll visit two caves that have paintings and carvings left by the Taino indigenous people. The boat then heads to Cayo Levantado where a Dominican lunch gets served.

    I saw the highlights of northern Chile and Patagonia in a short space of time. I knew there would be a lot of walking and driving, but it made me very tired to change places almost every day by plane or bus. However, I would book the trip again because everything was very well organized and the most important and beautiful highlights were included.
