Itinerary
- Day 1
Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Your journey starts at Marangu Gate (1,860m/6,100ft) where you'll begin hiking through thick rainforest. The trail takes 4-5 hours to walk through, and you'll see all kinds of plants and wildlife along the way. By evening you reach Mandara Hut (2,700m/8,860ft) for your first night's rest.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
The rainforest gives way to heath and moorland as you move higher up. The landscape changes noticeably and the trail crosses through more open terrain with wider views. You'll reach Horombo Hut (3,720m/12,200ft) by the end of the day, where Mount Kilimanjaro comes into clear view.

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Now you enter the alpine desert zone with rocky ground and patches of snow visible. The hike brings you to Kibo Hut (4,700m/15,420ft), which serves as your base camp before the summit push. This is a quieter day meant for rest and acclimatization before the night ahead.

Landmarks/POIs Kibo Hut - Day 4
Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and Back
You'll start your summit attempt in the middle of the night, climbing in darkness toward Uhuru Peak (5,895m/19,340ft). By sunrise you'll be at the top looking out over Africa's highest point. After taking in the view, you descend back to Kibo Hut to rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut.

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
The final descent takes you from Horombo Hut back down to Marangu Gate, completing the full route. Once you arrive, you'll receive your summit certificate recognizing your achievement. From there a transfer takes you to Kilimanjaro International Airport or to your hotel in Moshi.
