- Day 1
Luang Prabang
You'll arrive at the airport and head to your hotel in Luang Prabang to settle in. The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace. The Night Market is a good spot to wander through, where you'll find local artisans selling handmade textiles and various crafts.

- Day 2
Luang Prabang
Start early with an optional alms-giving ritual with monks if you're interested, then walk through local markets. From there, you'll visit several temples including Wat Visoun, Wat Aham, and the well-known Vat Xiengthong. After lunch, check out the National Museum (housed in the former Royal Palace) and Wat Mai. Later in the afternoon, climb up Phousi Hill for 360-degree views of the city before heading back to your hotel.

- Day 3
Luang Prabang
Head out early to Kuang Si Waterfall and spend about 2 hours around the three-tiered cascade and turquoise pools. Visit the bear rescue center next, then stop at Ban Na Uan Hmong village to see traditional embroidery work. After lunch, take a long-tail boat upstream on the Mekong River to Pak Ou Caves, where you'll see ancient Buddha images. Before returning, visit Ban Xanghai village to learn how locals produce rice whiskey and try some regional specialties.

- Day 4
Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng
Have breakfast at your hotel, then transfer to the train station for about a 1-hour speed train ride to Vang Vieng. Once you arrive in this quiet riverside town, you'll take a boat trip on the Nam Song River to see the mountain landscape and limestone formations. Your afternoon is free to do as you like.

- Day 5
Vang Vieng
After breakfast, head to Vieng Sa Mai Khmu village to start kayaking down the Nam Song River through green mountains. You'll paddle past rapids to Tham Norn Cave (also called Sleeping Cave), then continue to Tham Ngangfar (Angel Cave). Take time to explore inside Tham Norn and learn about its history from the Indochina War. You'll have a picnic lunch, paddle past the famous blue lagoon for swimming if you want, and return to your hotel by 4:30 pm.

- Day 6
Vang Vieng to Vientiane
After breakfast, drive to Vientiane, which takes about 2 to 2.5 hours on the expressway. In the afternoon, see the main sights of Laos' capital. You'll visit Wat Sisaket with its thousands of small Buddha statues and the former royal temple Wat Prakeo. Stop at the sacred That Luang Stupa and take photos of the Patuxay Monument, which is Vientiane's version of an Arc de Triomphe.

- Day 7
Vientiane to Pakse to Don Khong
After breakfast, catch a flight to Pakse. Then drive south on National Road 13 to Champassak to visit Wat Phou, a pre-Angkorian Khmer temple from the 10th century that sits at the base of Mount Phu Kao. These UNESCO ruins are older than Angkor Wat. Later, continue by road to Don Khong, the largest island in the 4000 Islands section of the southern Mekong River.

- Day 8
Don Khong Island
After breakfast at your hotel, head to Ban Nakasang village and cruise to Don Khone Island to explore the 4000 Islands region. You'll see French colonial buildings like an old pier, railway station, and former hospital. Check out Liphi Waterfalls (called the 'Corridor of the Devil'), where traditional fishermen use custom traps. Move on to Don Det Island, then return to Ban Nakasang to visit the massive Khone Phapheng Waterfall that spans 10 km of the Mekong. Head back to Don Khong with free time in the afternoon.

Don Khong to Pakse
After breakfast, drive to Bolavens Plateau, a mountainous area known for hill tribes, waterfalls, coffee and tea farms. You'll explore Tad Yuang and Tad Fane Waterfalls, where Tad Fane is a striking twin waterfall dropping 120 meters from two rivers at the edge of Dong Hua Sao protected area. Then transfer to Pakse to check into your hotel for the night.
