- Day 1
Salzburg
You'll arrive in Salzburg and spend your first day getting oriented. The city's winding streets and quiet squares are best explored on foot, so take your time wandering through the old town and stopping whenever something catches your eye. There's coffee culture here that's worth experiencing, so find a local café and settle in for a proper Austrian coffee. History and architecture surround you, so you'll notice something interesting on almost every corner you turn.

After Schwarzach, the route shifts to follow the Gasteiner Ache instead, taking you through the Gastein Valley with its dramatic landscape. By late afternoon you'll reach Bad Gastein, a spa town known for winter sports, where you can see the famous local waterfall right in the town center. After you arrive, cycling resumes along the Möll river as you head toward the Drautal and into southern Austria where the climate and landscape start feeling Mediterranean.
