Itinerary
- Day 1
Rome
You'll arrive at Fiumicino Airport and get transferred to your hotel to settle in. After you've had time to freshen up, join your Travel Director and the rest of the group for a welcome dinner with wine at a local restaurant. It's a nice way to meet everyone and get started on your Italian journey.

- Day 2
Rome
A Local Expert guides you through Rome's major sites. You'll head to the Vatican Museums to see the art collection, then move on to the Sistine Chapel where you can see Michelangelo's ceiling up close. St. Peter's Basilica comes next so you can view the Pieta. After crossing the Tiber River, you'll check out Circus Maximus, the Arch of Constantine, and the Colosseum. The day finishes with time at the Pantheon and some of Rome's well-known piazzas and fountains.

Rome to Monopoli
You'll travel south to Monopoli, a charming waterfront town in Puglia. Your Travel Director gives you an orientation walk to help you get your bearings around town. Then you'll explore the old town on your own, visit the Cathedral of Maria Santissima della Madia, and walk along Cala Batteria and Porto Vecchio beach. You can soak in the local atmosphere with fishermen, cafes, and restaurants lining the streets.

Monopoli to Alberobello
A Local Expert takes you through Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to explain the Trulli structures, those distinctive circular buildings with conical roofs made from local limestone and built without mortar. You have the option to visit Ostuni, a white-washed city nearby, or join an optional dinner experience at a local Masseria, a traditional fortified farmhouse.

Alberobello to Lecce
You'll explore Lecce with a Local Expert, a city known for its impressive Baroque architecture and monuments dating back to Roman times, sometimes called the Florence of the South. After wandering through the maze of streets, you'll head to Gallipoli on the coast to see the Greek Fountain and Medieval castle, with views out over the Ionian Sea.

Gallipoli to Matera
Matera's Sassi district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, shows you a labyrinth of ancient cave dwellings carved right into solid rock, complete with churches, staircases, and arches. Later you'll visit the small village of Grottole to meet Andrea, who works to preserve traditional local practices. The day includes time in the historic old town and an aperitif with local snacks.

- Day 7
Matera to Sorrento
A Local Expert walks you through Pompeii's cobbled streets, the Roman city that was frozen in time after the A.D. 79 eruption of Mount Vesuvius. From there you'll head to Sorrento, a seaside resort town perched on cliffs above the Bay of Naples where you can see Mount Vesuvius across the water.

- Day 8
Sorrento to Capri
You'll take a jetfoil across beautiful Mediterranean waters to the island of Capri. A Local Expert meets you there for an orientation walk through the narrow alleyways. You get to choose your experience for the rest of the day, either heading to the Gardens of Augustus to see views over the Faraglioni Rocks, or joining a tasting of limoncello, the famous lemon liqueur produced on the island.
