Itinerary
- Day 1
Rabat
You'll arrive in Casablanca and start by checking out the Hassan II Mosque, which is one of the rare mosques in Morocco that welcomes non-Muslim visitors. After that, you'll head north to Rabat where you can walk through the Chellah Necropolis, explore the Kasbah des Oudaias, wander the Andalusian Gardens, and see the Hassan Tower. You'll settle in for the night there.

- Day 2
Rabat to Chefchaouen
This morning you'll travel north toward the blue city of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. Along the way, there's a hike through green vegetation to reach the Cascades d'Akchour waterfalls. Once you arrive in Chefchaouen, you can explore its blue-painted medina, Plaza Outa el-Hammam, the Grand Mosque, and the kasbah museum with its historic prison cells. As the sun starts to set, you'll hike to an abandoned white Spanish Mosque for views over the city.

- Day 3
Fes
You'll head south toward Fes with stops along the way. First, you'll see the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO site from the 3rd century BCE. Then you'll explore Meknes, which feels like a calmer version of Fes, checking out the Ville Impériale, its medina, the grand Bab al-Mansour gate, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. After that, you'll continue to Fes and walk to the Merenid Tombs ruins for panoramic views before dinner at your traditional riad.

- Day 4
Fes
Spend the morning with a guide navigating Fes el Bali and Fes el Jdid. You'll enter through Bab Boujeloud gate and walk Talâa Kebira, noticing Spanish and Tunisian architecture along the way. At the Chouara Tannery, you'll climb to a leather shop rooftop to see the 11th-century stone dye pots and traditional techniques. You'll also visit the 14th-century Al Attarine Madrasa and Al-Qarawiyyin University and Mosque (859 CE), one of the oldest universities still operating. If interested, there's an optional cooking class in the evening.

- Day 5
Fes
Start at the Batha Museum, set in a 19th-century palace, where you'll see traditional Moroccan arts including carved wood, zellij, and pottery. You can stroll through the Andalusian-style gardens, then walk to the mellah (the old Jewish quarter) for panoramic city photos. From there, head south to Ville Nouvelle to see how the architecture changes dramatically. You'll tour a Ceramics and Tile Collective to watch artisans work with clay and paint designs, then see masters fit together intricate mosaics. End your day relaxing in Jnan Sbil between the mellah and Bab Boujeloud.

- Day 6
Fes to Marrakech
You'll make the journey west toward the coast and then south to Marrakech, with optional stops in Meknes, Rabat, or Casablanca if you want to break up the drive. Spend the rest of the afternoon taking things at a relaxed pace. As evening arrives, head to Jemaa el-Fna square which fills with musicians, performers, snake charmers, and games. You can walk through the stalls and vendor stands or grab a seat at a café for mint tea and a meal. Later, take an evening stroll to see the floodlit Koutoubia Mosque before heading back to your accommodation.

- Day 7
Marrakech
You're in the 'Red City' with its 1000-year-old red sandstone walls and buildings. Start with the 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque and relax in its gardens surrounded by fountains and palms. Walk through the spice markets like Souk el-Attarin or Souk Smata where you'll find traditional slippers, rugs, and leather goods. Visit the Ben Youssef Madrasa to see 16th-century architecture with arabesques, Islamic calligraphy, and geometric tilework. As you explore, you'll notice the fondouks (medieval caravanserai). Depending on your energy, you might visit the 500-year-old Saadian Tombs, 17th-century El Badi Palace, or 19th-century Bahia Palace. End with a final meal at Jemaa el-Fna.

Marrakech to Essaouira
After breakfast, travel west to Essaouira, a charming Atlantic beach town, passing through rolling plains and argan forests where you might see goats grazing in the trees. There's an optional stop at an Argan Oil Cooperative to see how the oil gets made. Once you arrive in laid-back Essaouira, you'll explore the 18th-century Skala de la Kasbah seafront ramparts with old brass cannons, the UNESCO-protected medina, and the windswept beach. If you're interested, there's a visit to Diabat where Jimi Hendrix reportedly spent time. Finish your day with freshly caught seafood.

- Day 9
Essaouira to Casablanca
Spend the morning in Essaouira, known as the 'Windy City' because of its strong Alizée trade winds hitting the crescent beach. You can watch windsurfers and kiteboarders, or if you're feeling adventurous, take a lesson. Later you'll say goodbye to this charming coastal town and return to Casablanca for your flight home.
