- Day 1
Chengdu
When you arrive in Chengdu, you'll check into your hotel and get settled. Then head out on a walking tour through downtown to see Tianfu Square and the statue of Chairman Mao. From there, make your way to People's Park where you can spend some time relaxing at a tea house. If you're interested, optional ear cleaning and massage services are available at various spots around the city. The local food here is worth trying too, especially the UNESCO-listed dishes that Chengdu is known for.

Chengdu
Start early and head to the Chengdu Giant Pandas Breeding and Research Base. The morning is the best time since the pandas are most active then, and you'll see baby pandas, sub-adults, and fully grown ones. After grabbing lunch back in downtown Chengdu, spend your afternoon at Wangjiang Park where you can enjoy the river views and bamboo groves while playing Sichuan Mahjong and having tea.

Chengdu to Emei Shan
You'll drive about 2.5 hours to Leshan city to see the Leshan Grand Buddha. This massive 71-meter-high statue was carved over 1200 years ago at the meeting point of three rivers. In the morning you get views from the mountain side, then after lunch you'll take a river cruise to see it from the water. After that, it's a 40-minute drive to Emei Shan where you'll stay overnight.

Emei Shan
Wake up early to catch Mt. Emei's sunrise. You'll take a 2-hour sightseeing bus to Leidongping parking lot, then hike for 40 minutes before taking a cable car to the Golden Summit. There you'll find the 48-meter-high golden statue of Puxian and see visitors coming to pray. The mountain offers four special views: sunrise, cloud sea, Buddhist halo, and holy lights. After lunch, you'll head back down to meet your driver for the return trip to Chengdu.
