You're arriving in France with time to yourself along the French Riviera. The coastline runs from Toulon down to the Italian border, so you can spend the day however you'd like exploring this Mediterranean stretch.

Nice
A guided tour takes you through Nice's old city, where narrow winding streets and baroque churches haven't changed much since the 1700s. You'll walk through Vieux Nice and get a real feel for how the area looked centuries back.

Nice to Arles
You'll board the Avalon Suite ship and head to your cabin to settle in. After getting comfortable, the ship docks overnight in Arles, so you can get your bearings before activities start tomorrow.

Arles
In Arles, you choose your activity: take a power walk with the Adventure Host, join a painting workshop learning Van Gogh techniques, or do a guided walking tour of the Roman Amphitheater. Later you'll visit Café Van Gogh before sailing to Avignon, complete with live jazz entertainment in the evening.

Start your morning in Tournon with either a hike or guided walking tour that covers the medieval city and its 16th-century castle. You'll sail to Vienne while enjoying jazz, then tour that city's cathedral, Archaeological Gardens of Cybèle, and Roman Temple of Augustus & Livia. After dinner, head to the Vienne Jazz Festival with free time at local bars.

Lyon
The ship sails to Lyon. You can bike around the city's architecture with the Adventure Host, crossing bridges where the Rhône and Saône rivers meet, or take a guided tour from Fourvière Hill down through the Old Town's medieval alleyways, cafés, and the Place des Terreaux fountain.
