Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Soraypampa
Your 4:30 am pickup from Cusco takes you to Mollepata for breakfast, then you'll head toward Callacancha to start the trek. The walk to Soraypampa covers about 3 hours through the Andes with a lunch break along the way. Before heading back to camp for dinner, you'll stop at Humantay Lagoon to see the glacial waters up close.

Soraypampa to Chaullay
After tea and breakfast, you'll tackle the day's toughest climb through Salkantaypampa sector toward Abra Salkantay at 4,600 meters. From the highest point you'll see two snow-capped peaks, and after resting you'll move through cloud forest to lunch. The day ends with a descent to Chaullay campsite for dinner.

Landmarks Abra Salkantay - Day 3
Lucmabamba to Santa Teresa
You'll trek through Beach sector after breakfast, stopping in Lucmabamba for lunch. In the afternoon, transport switches to a vehicle to get you to Santa Teresa. If you want to recover from the hiking, the Cocalmayo thermal baths are only 5 minutes away and worth the stop before heading back to camp for dinner.

Santa Teresa to Aguas Calientes
Start with a filling breakfast before following the trail through Hydroelectric plant sector where you'll have lunch. Then you'll walk alongside the railway for about 3 more hours as the trail goes deeper into the sanctuary. You'll reach Aguas Calientes by late afternoon after 4 days of trekking, and check into your hotel.

- Day 5
Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu to Cusco
Head to the station early to catch the bus up to Machu Picchu, then go through the control station to start exploring. Climb to Watchman's House first for the classic photo, then spend roughly 3 hours touring the main square, sundial, royal quarters, Intihuatana stone, Temple of 3 Windows, and Condor Temple. Grab lunch in Aguas Calientes (on your own), then take the train to Ollantaytambo and connect with your bus back to Cusco.
