Lima
You'll arrive in Lima and meet your local host for a transfer to your hotel in Miraflores, the upscale district along the coast. After settling in, you'll join your Travel Director and fellow travelers for dinner this evening.

Lima
This morning, walk through Lima's Historic Centre with a local specialist, seeing the Cathedral of Lima, Palace of the Union, and the Church of San Francisco where you can check out the hidden catacombs. Later, you'll head to a local market to connect with Chef Ignacio Barrios and learn about Peruvian ingredients before watching a cooking demonstration and having lunch at his cooking school. The rest of the day is free to spend however you'd like.

Lima to Sacred Valley
You'll fly to Cusco and the Sacred Valley, then visit the Manos de la Comunidad Weaving Centre to learn about traditional weaving techniques from master Quechua weaver Nilda Callañaupa Alvarez, who shares knowledge of ancient pre-Columbian methods. By evening, you'll check into your hotel, a former 18th-century colonial monastery.

Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu
Starting early, you'll see the Inca stronghold of Ollantaytambo with its impressive stone terraces and sun temple. From there, board the Vistadome train for the journey to Machu Picchu. Once you arrive, you'll explore the 15th-century ruins including the Temple of the Sun, House of the Priest, Sacred Plaza, and the Intihuatana with your local specialist.

Machu Picchu to Cusco
After spending another morning at Machu Picchu, you'll board the train back to the Sacred Valley. On the way to colonial Cusco, you'll stop at a local chicheria to learn about chicha, a traditional corn beer brewed by local women, and try its sweet flavors for yourself.

Cusco

You'll also check out the Sacsayhuaman fortress ruins and nearby Inca grain storage warehouses. The afternoon is free to explore on your own.

Lima to Amazon Rainforest
You'll fly to Puerto Maldonado and travel on the Madre de Ríos River to reach your jungle lodge at the Inkaterra Field Station. Your guides will give you insights into the forest ecosystem, and then you'll head out on a pre-dinner boat expedition where you might see shy caiman in the water.

Amazon Rainforest
Climb the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway to see the rainforest from high above the forest floor. Later, take a boat into Tambopata National Reserve and hike through thick jungle to reach Sandoval Lake, where you might spot birds, monkeys, giant river otters, and black caimans. You'll watch the sun go down over the lake before heading back to the lodge.

During the day, you'll wander through the Amazon's aguajales rainforest swampland and learn how the vegetation adapts to this wet environment. You'll visit an organic bio-orchard to see tropical plants and find out about their healing properties. At night, venture out with your local specialist to hear the mysterious nocturnal sounds and see the strange species that come out after dark.
