Embarkation
You'll board the AmaDouro cruise ship and settle in for your Douro River journey. This is where everything begins, so take time to get oriented on the ship, meet other passengers, and get comfortable in your cabin before the adventure starts.

Entre-os-Rios
After getting underway, you'll head out to Entre-os-Rios, a quiet village where the Tâmega and Douro rivers meet. The afternoon brings you to a local quinta for traditional Portuguese lunch with your fellow travelers. Then it's back to the ship for the evening.

Palacio de Mateus and Port Wine Tasting
You'll visit Palacio de Mateus to see the Baroque architecture and its carved interiors and gardens. Later, you head to another quinta for Port wine tasting, learning about vinho do porto production right in the Douro Valley where it's made.

Salamanca
You'll drive to Salamanca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with golden sandstone buildings. An escorted tour takes you through the university, the New Cathedral, the House of Shells with its intricate decoration, and the Plaza Mayor at the city's heart.

Barca d'Alva and Castelo Rodrigo
The cruise heads to Barca d'Alva so you can visit Castelo Rodrigo, a fortified village high on a hill with centuries-old walls and narrow streets. You'll taste local produce, then enjoy dinner and wine tasting at Quinta da Avessada, an interactive museum about wine history in the Alto Douro region.

You'll travel to Lamego to see Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, one of Portugal's major pilgrimage sites. The church sits at the top of nearly 700 steps decorated with white and blue tiles. You'll sample local specialties like bôlas de Lamego, presunto ham, and Portuguese sparkling wine.
