Embarkation
You'll board the AmaDouro and get settled into your luxury stateroom. After unpacking, there's dinner and welcome celebrations onboard to kick off the cruise. This is your chance to meet fellow travelers and get oriented with the ship before heading out tomorrow.

Entre-os-Rios
Head ashore to Entre-os-Rios, a quiet village sitting right where the Tâmega and Douro rivers meet. You'll have a traditional Portuguese lunch with other guests at a local quinta, a country estate where you can get a real sense of regional food and hospitality. After lunch, return to the ship.

Palacio de Mateus and Port Wine Tasting
Visit Palacio de Mateus, a Baroque-style palace with gardens that are really something special. You'll walk through rooms with interesting furnishings, paintings, and wooden ceilings carved in detail. Later in the afternoon, head to a local quinta for Port wine tasting and learn how they make this famous wine.

Salamanca
Drive to Salamanca, a UNESCO site built from golden sandstone that feels like stepping back in time. On an escorted tour, you'll see the university buildings, the New Cathedral, the House of Shells with its unusual decoration, and Plaza Mayor. Wander through medieval streets and soak in the history throughout the day.

Barca d'Alva and Castelo Rodrigo
Cruise to Barca d'Alva and visit Castelo Rodrigo, a fortified village high on a hillside with centuries-old walls and narrow streets with great views. You'll sample local produce grown in the region. That evening, there's an exclusive dinner with entertainment at Quinta da Avessada, an interactive wine museum where you'll learn about Alto Douro wine production and taste wines from the area.

Lamego
Travel to Lamego to see Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Sanctuary, one of Portugal's most important pilgrimage sites. The sanctuary has a beautiful staircase with nearly 700 steps decorated with white and blue tiles. You'll sample local food like bôlas de Lamego (smoked ham bread), presunto (cured ham), and Espumante (Portuguese sparkling wine).

Porto and Guimarães
Spend the morning on an escorted tour of Porto's historic quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll visit the Cathedral, one of the oldest monuments in the city, and São Bento Railway Station with its distinctive blue and white tile panels showing Portuguese history. There's a Port wine tasting to try the local product. After lunch, head to Guimarães, known as the birthplace of Portuguese nationality, and tour Quinta de Sezim baron's winery with a tasting on the terrace.
