Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakesh to Agdez
Your hotel pickup happens at 8 AM in Marrakesh, then you'll drive up through the High Atlas Mountains using the Tichka pass. The route takes you to Telouet Kasbah, where you can walk through the ruins of what used to be the Glaoui family's home. After grabbing lunch, you'll head to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site with a real kasbah to explore. From there, drive south to Agdez where the Draa Valley starts, and you'll stay overnight in a kasbah.

Agdez to Erg Chagaga Dunes
Start with breakfast, then walk around the rest of the kasbah before heading out on old caravan routes between the river and mountains. You'll pass through several villages and see oases, which gives a real feel for how people live in this region. By lunch time you'll reach M'hamid, the gateway to the desert. After eating, a 2-hour 4WD journey across 60km takes you over rough terrain to Erg Chagaga dunes. You'll see different types of desert landscape, take a camel ride, and catch the sunset. The night is spent in a nomadic tent bivouac.

Erg Chagaga Dunes to Marrakesh
After breakfast, the 90km drive back through the desert shows you Lake Iriqui, mountains, and fossils. Lunch happens in Foum Zguid, the first village once you leave the desert, where you can also shower and freshen up. Then travel on paved roads through Taznakht, which is known for Berber carpets and rugs. You'll cross the High Atlas Mountains one more time and get back to Marrakesh in the late afternoon.
