Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival at Kilimanjaro
Your driver meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drives you to Lindrin Lodge in Moshi. Once you've settled into your room, your lead guide gathers the group for a briefing about the trek ahead, covering what the next week will look like and what you should prepare for physically.

- Day 2
Londorossi Park Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
Registration happens at Londorossi Park Gate before you're driven about an hour to Lemosho Gate, where your actual trek begins. From the gate, you'll hike for roughly three hours through the forest, gaining elevation as you go. Mti Mkubwa Camp sits at 2,895 metres (9,498 feet) and becomes your first night under canvas, which feels pretty surreal after being in town just hours before.

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
After eating early, you'll leave the rainforest behind and move into the heather and moorland zone. The path crosses multiple streams as it climbs toward Shira 1 Camp at 3,505 metres (11,499 feet). This five to six hour day is one of the trek's best for scenery, so you'll want to pace yourself and take in the landscape as you go.

Landmarks Shira 1 Camp - Day 4
Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut
The Shira Plateau stretches out in front of you with the Western Breach and glaciers visible throughout the day. You'll spot giant lobelias and senecios along the trail, plus other alpine vegetation that feels pretty alien at this elevation. The hike to Moir Hut takes six to seven hours and ends at 4,206 metres (13,796 feet).

Moir Hut to Barranco Camp
After breakfast, you'll climb to Lava Tower at 4,630 metres (15,190 feet) where lunch happens, then you'll drop down to Barranco Camp at 3,967 metres (13,012 feet). This 'climb high, sleep low' approach helps your body adjust to the altitude. The day involves six to nine hours of walking depending on your pace and rest breaks.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
You'll tackle the Barranco Wall after an early meal, a steep rock face that looks much harder than it actually is to climb. Once you're up top, you'll break through the clouds with incredible views of the southern ice fields and the summit in the distance. Karanga Camp is four to five hours away, so you'll arrive with time to rest before dinner.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
The three-hour hike to Barafu Camp at 4,600 metres (15,092 feet) keeps showing you those big mountain views and signals you're getting close to the top. You'll head to bed early tonight since the summit push starts at midnight. The timing lets you see sunrise from high altitude and spreads the long trek across the day and early morning hours.

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
The summit day starts in darkness. You'll climb for six to eight hours in the cold to reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres (19,341 feet), standing at Africa's highest point next to the iconic sign. After photos and celebration, you'll spend another six to eight hours descending to Mweka Camp at 3,068 metres (10,066 feet). It's a long, challenging day but the payoff is everything.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
The final three hours take you back down through the rainforest to Mweka Gate at 1,640 metres (5,381 feet). Your driver is waiting to collect you, and the group celebrates with a tipping ceremony for the guides and porters. Cold beers and stories come next, then you'll head back to Lindrin Lodge for a proper shower and sleep in an actual bed.

- Day 10
Departure from Kilimanjaro
It's time to leave Kilimanjaro behind. Your driver either takes you to the airport if you're heading out of Tanzania or over to Zanzibar for beach time, or you both head west together if you're continuing on to a safari to see wildlife like lions, elephants, and the full African experience.
