Itinerary
- Day 1
Cairo
You'll land at Cairo airport and get transferred to your hotel. After settling in, the rest of your day is open for exploring Egypt's capital at your own pace. This gives you time to get oriented and shake off the travel.
- Day 2
Cairo to Alexandria
The drive to Alexandria takes you to the Mediterranean coast where you'll see the Roman Catacombs and Pompey's Pillar. You can check out the Library of Alexandria from the outside, then head to the Citadel of Qaitbay which sits where the famous Lighthouse once stood. After that, you'll return to your hotel to clean up before dinner.

Alexandria to Cairo
This morning you're heading to El Alamein to visit the sites of two World War II battles. You'll pay respects at the Commonwealth War Graves and spend time at the El Alamein Military Museum learning about the history. The drive back to Cairo happens in the afternoon, so you'll be back at your hotel by evening.

Cairo
Today is yours to spend however you like around Cairo. If you're interested, there's an optional guided tour through Islamic Cairo's backstreets including El Moez street, Garbage City, and the cave church of St Simon. Otherwise you can wander around on your own.

Cairo
You'll see the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx this morning, Egypt's most famous spots and the only surviving Ancient Wonder. The Great Pyramid of Cheops, the largest one, is particularly impressive. From there, you head to Saqqara to visit the Step Pyramid of Djoser, dating back to 2700 BC and the world's earliest stone monument.

- Day 6
Cairo to Aswan
Your guided tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum starts early, taking you through a 490,000 square meter complex with over 100,000 artifacts from ancient Egypt. Later you'll visit the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to see statues, jewelry, sarcophagi, and mummies. In the evening you'll board a night train to Aswan, so pack light for the journey.

Aswan
After arriving in Aswan, you'll take a boat to Philae Temple on Agilika Island, which UNESCO moved here in 1960 to save it from flooding. You'll also stop at a perfume oil emporium to see local products. Your evening is free to walk through Aswan's lively markets on your own.

Aswan
If the Abu Simbel temple interests you, there's an optional visit to see Ramses II's massive structure with its 4 colossal statues. Later you'll board a traditional felucca for a 2-night cruise down the Nile, or you can upgrade to a 5-star luxury cruise if preferred.

Nile Felucca Cruise
You'll spend this day relaxing on the felucca as it moves toward Kom Ombo. Once you arrive, you'll get off to visit the symmetrical temple honoring both the falcon god Horus and the crocodile god Sobek. Back on the felucca for your final night, you can sleep on deck under the stars.

- Day 10
Kom Ombo to Luxor
After leaving the felucca, you'll travel to Luxor, famous for the Valley of the Kings and Temple of Karnak. The rest of your day is free to relax by the hotel pool. If you're up for it, there's an optional evening visit to Luxor Temple, which is lit by hundreds of lights.

- Day 11
Luxor
You'll cross to the West Bank and explore the Valley of the Kings, walking through tombs of pharaohs like Ramses II, Seti I, Amenhotep II, and King Tutankhamun. You'll also see the Colossi of Memnon and visit Queen Hatshepsut's temple before returning for lunch. In the afternoon, you'll tour Karnak Temple with its massive Temple of Amun-ra, built with contributions from roughly 30 different pharaohs. Your evening is free.

You'll leave Luxor and drive east toward Hurghada on the Red Sea Riviera for your next stretch. The drive takes time but you'll settle into a more relaxed beach atmosphere for the next 3 days.

Hurghada
Spend two full days relaxing in Hurghada on the Red Sea coast. The beautiful beaches and clear blue waters are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, or windsurfing. You can optionally visit Giftun Island for water activities, or check out the ancient Roman quarry Mons Porphyritis and the windsurfing area at Port Safarga. There are also restaurants and bars to explore.
