- JGJennifer· October 24th, 2024I had an amazing time. As a solo traveller I was a bit nervous about the tour, but the other tour guests were so welcoming and friendly. I made some wonderful friends. Terry Gibson our guide was fantastic. He was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Phillip, our driver was great. It was lovely when he joined our group for meals and certain activities.Show moreTrip date: September 2024

Asked on September 7th, 2024I suffered a severe head injury in 2015 resulting in brain surgery and ongoing balance/mobility issues. I am addressing these with physiotherapy and gym sessions but still have some difficulty in walking uphill or on uneven surfaces for prolonged periods of time and climbing stairs. Before booking this tour I just want to check if the accommodation used has lifts or the option of ground floor rooms.
- Back-Roads TouringOperator•Written September 2024
Our tours are leisurely paced, but we require passengers to have a reasonable level of fitness. Passengers need to be able to walk upstairs and around 2km unassisted. Small mobility aids like walking sticks are permitted however larger aids like wheelchairs or scooters are unable to be fit on the coach. We often stay in charming older properties, our hotels often don't have lifts and sometimes have showers set over bathtubs which may present an issue to passengers with limited mobility. While accessible/ ground level rooms can be requested, this is subject to availability and unfortunately cannot not be guaranteed. The Heart of England tour has been rated a 4 on our 5 point Mobility & Physical fitness matrix meaning that a reasonable high level of fitness is required on this itinerary. Within the UK, a tour you might be interested in looking at with a lower level of fitness requirements is the Kent: The Garden of England tour which is rated a 2.

Asked on May 5th, 2024We're planning to visit London in September. And want to visit Liverpool, Scotland and 2 football derbies. Can you make this kind of tour package? For 12 people and for 8 days
- Back-Roads TouringOperator•Written May 2024
In terms of tours, we are unable to make specialised tours. However, we do offer a range of tours that span across England and Scotland. I' think the tour below is the most likely tour you would be interested in: Highlights of Britain (London to Edinburgh via Liverpool). Join us for a classic journey that delves deep into Britain's fascinating history and culture. In England we'll trace the footsteps of famous writers and poets, uncovering the scenic countryside that inspired their greatest works. While in North Wales and Scotland, our journey will take in evocative scenery and dramatic castles – immersing ourselves in age-old traditions as we go. Experience it all on this unforgettable 11-day journey.

Asked on March 1st, 2024is it possible to have a tour without guide?

all of our tours have a driver and Tour Guide. We don't have an options to not have a guide.

Asked on February 19th, 2024Are there elevators in the hotels? Are the tours each day drive by tours or is it on and off the bus each day?
- Back-Roads TouringOperator•Written February 2024
A lot of the hotel don't have step free access due to a lot of them being boutique/traditional hotels. The tours do tend to be short walking tours, and while our tours don't require a high level of fitness, we generally advise that passengers need to be able to walk sporadically over an 8 hour day.

Traveler•Written February 2024Would they be ok with bringing a walker? They will be able to walk sporadically like you mentioned but would want to have a walker if needed. Also, for the hotels, I know you mentioned that it wouldne be step free but he cant walk up multiple stairs to get to the room.
- Back-Roads TouringOperator•Written February 2024
Unfortunately, a walker of this size would not be able to fit on this tour unless the tour they are looking to book has a reduced passengers size and is not sold out. Walking is also a fundamental part of our tours, and we can't always guarantee the hotels we stay in have lifts.

Asked on October 21st, 2023We are looking to link this 6 day London trip in between our travels. We will be arriving in London on the evening of the 12th October 2024. Would there be another tour running from the 13th of October 2024?
- Back-Roads TouringOperator•Written October 2023
