Paro to Thimphu
You'll arrive in Paro after that mountain flight and drive to Thimphu following the Pachu River. After checking into your hotel, you'll spend the day visiting several cultural spots including a traditional handmade paper factory, Simtokha Dzong from centuries past, the Buddha Dordenma statue at Buddha Point, and the National Institute for Zorig Chusum where you can watch students learning traditional Bhutanese arts.

Thimphu to Punakha
Heading towards Punakha, you'll stop at Dochula Pass which sits at 3,140m about 30 minutes into the drive. From there you'll see Punakha Dzong, built back in 1637 and considered one of Bhutan's finest fortress buildings. Later you'll take a walk out to the longest suspension bridge in the country for views across the river towards the villages on the other side.

Punakha to Bumthang
This morning starts with a five-hour drive through Bhutan's only east-west highway. You'll make a brief stop at Chendebji Chorten, then visit Trongsa village and its large dzong before crossing over Yotong La Pass. By afternoon you'll reach Bumthang Valley at 2,580m, where buckwheat fields, apple orchards, and ancient monasteries surround the area.

Bumthang

Later you'll visit local cottage industries like Red Panda Brewery, Bumthang Cheese Dairy, and the local distillery.

Bumthang to Gangtey
Driving back towards Gangtey and Phobjikha Valley, you'll cross high passes to reach what locals call the most beautiful valley in Bhutan. You'll stroll through Gangtey Village and then visit the ancient Gangtey Goemba, where you can walk around its vast altars and ramparts overlooking the valley below.

Gangtey
Lace up your hiking boots for a nature trail walk through Phobjikha Valley, descending through flower meadows towards Semchubara Village. At the Black Neck Crane Center you can try to spot rare cranes migrating from Tibet during winter months. You'll have an authentic Bhutanese lunch at a local farm house and get to meet people from the community.

Gangtey to Paro
After breakfast you'll drive back to Paro. On the way you'll stop at Tamchog Bridge, a historic iron suspension bridge built by engineer Thangtong Gyalpo. Once you reach Paro, you'll visit Ringpung Dzong from 1644 and the National Museum. In the evening you can walk around the main street looking at Himalayan artifacts and textiles.

The drive goes through thick forests and on clear days you'll get views of Mount Jumolhari, Jichu Drake, and other northern peaks. You'll spend time in the mountains connecting with nature. By evening you can head to the market for Himalayan handicrafts and souvenirs.

Paro
You'll hike to Taktsang Goemba, commonly known as Tiger's Nest, one of Bhutan's most dramatic monuments. This sacred monastery sits on a sheer cliff face at 2,950m or 9,678 feet, which is 900m above the valley floor, and the hike offers views the whole way up. In the evening you might want to relax with a traditional hot stone bath at a local home stay to help your muscles recover after the hike.
