You'll arrive in Washington, D.C. and get settled into your hotel. The afternoon is yours to wander through the museums, memorials, and monuments at your own pace. Later this evening, you'll join your Travel Director and the group for a Welcome Dinner to start off the trip.

Washington, D.C.
Today covers the main D.C. landmarks like the White House, Washington Monument, and National Mall. You'll pay your respects at the memorials for Lincoln, World War II, and Vietnam. The National Museum of African American History and Culture is on the schedule, and then your afternoon and evening are free to explore the capital on your own.

Washington, D.C. to Williamsburg, Virginia
You'll head out to Mount Vernon, George Washington's former estate, and walk through the 18th-century gardens and museum. From there, it's on to the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown Victory Center to see the Siege of Yorktown exhibit with surround screen effects. By evening you'll arrive in Williamsburg, which was founded in 1638 as Virginia's former capital.

Williamsburg, Virginia
Start the day at Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement, where you'll learn about early 17th-century colonial life. You'll see the recreated fort, mock Native American village, and replica ships. After lunch, spend the afternoon in Colonial Williamsburg watching fife and drum parades and talking with costumed tradespeople. Later, local specialist Sylvia Tabb-Lee will share stories about slavery through storytelling, song, and dance.

Williamsburg to Charlottesville, Virginia
Visit St. John's Church in Richmond, the historic spot where Patrick Henry gave his famous speech. Next, head to Charlottesville and grab lunch at a local restaurant on your own. Then you'll tour Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's neoclassical estate. The rest of your day is open for exploring.

Charlottesville to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
You'll drive through the rolling hills of Shenandoah National Park on your way to Gettysburg. Stop at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center to learn about the Civil War battle. This evening, you'll have a regional dinner at the Dobbin House, a 19th-century tavern, where a costumed Civil War soldier will share stories from that era.

Gettysburg to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
A local specialist will guide you through the Battle of Gettysburg and its significance in the war. You'll learn about Lincoln's Gettysburg Address delivered on the battlefield. Later, head to Lancaster County for lunch at the Lapp family farm, a 25-acre working produce operation, where Samuel and Ruth Lapp serve a traditional family-style meal with generational recipes. Afterward, travel to Philadelphia and settle into the historic district. Tonight you'll join your Travel Director for a farewell dinner.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
You'll explore the history of the U.S. Constitution during a morning tour of Philadelphia. Visit Independence National Historic Park and see the Liberty Bell. Walk through Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed. Tour the National Constitution Center. Afterward, you'll depart for the airport around 4:00pm to Dulles or 5:00pm to Ronald Reagan National Airport.
