Itinerary
- Day 1
Keflavik to Kulusuk
You'll fly out from Keflavik in the late afternoon at 5:30 pm on a small aircraft heading to Kulusuk, touching down around 5:15 pm local time. After grabbing your baggage, there's a short 40-minute walk to your accommodation in a traditional local house. Settle in, have dinner, and spend your first night in this remote island village of roughly 250 people.

Kulusuk
This day you'll explore Kulusuk Island on foot. Start in the morning with a walk up to a hilltop offering great westward views of icebergs and drift ice. From there, continue to a mountain lake and head down to the coast to check out the cliffs and rock formations. The whole walk takes 6 to 7 hours covering varied terrain and landscapes. You'll spend another night in the same accommodation.

Kulusuk to Kuummiit
A morning boat transfer lasting about an hour takes you to Kuummiit, the northernmost village in the Ammassalik region, positioned at the foot of steep granite mountains. After settling into local hut-style accommodation, an afternoon walk through the village and along the shore follows, where you might see local fishermen catching arctic char. The fjord views framed by mountain peaks are quite nice from here.

Kuummiit
This is your summit day for Qeqqit Qaqqartivaat, which stands at almost 1100m. You'll climb the ridge above the village for views of the small fjord locals call Dunu or Tunu, then work up a second ridge to a hanging valley before making a 200m final push to reach the top. From the summit you'll see mountains, glaciers, fjords, and valleys spread out. The walk totals 6 to 7 hours with 1050m of ascent, and you'll stay another night here.

Kuummiit to Tiniteqilaq
You'll sail from Kuummiit to Tiniteqilaq through the Ikaasatsivaq strait, with towering granite peaks on both sides. This tiny hunter's village sits at the edge of the Sermilik ice fjord, one of the world's most productive glacier systems where icebergs calve constantly. After a refreshment, a walk lets you take in the views. Three hours sailing and three hours walking make up this active day.

Tiniteqilaq
You'll walk a loop trail where the goal is to spot Niviarsiaq, Greenland's national flower, with its delicate purple blooms. Continue climbing a long broad ridge to a 420m high point that offers 360-degree views of pyramid-shaped mountains, endless ridges and peaks to the east, and the enormous Greenland Ice Cap to the west. Head back to Tiniteqilaq by afternoon. The walk takes 6 to 7 hours with 420m of ascent.

Tiniteqilaq to Tasilaq
An early morning short boat transfer takes you to the Golden Beach, then you'll hike eastward into the hills, passing several mountain lakes. Cross a small mountain pass around 350m, continue along larger lakes until reaching the Tasilaq fjord. Follow the coastline into Tasilaq, the largest town of East Greenland with 2000 inhabitants. The walk spans 6 to 7 hours with 350m of ascent, and you'll overnight in a guesthouse.

Tasilaq
You'll climb Sailors Mountain at 679m, starting with a steep ridge that gives you views from the lower summit. Continue to the higher summit for more mountain and glacier views, plus icebergs visible from up there. Descend into a valley on the north side and walk along a lake to the Flower Valley, where arctic plants bloom in July and early August. Return to Tasilaq after 5 to 6 hours of walking with 650m of ascent. Stay another night in the guesthouse.

Tasilaq to Kulusuk
The morning includes a walk over hills above Tasilaq to a nearby lake, taking about 3 hours. Your afternoon is free to explore on your own, so you can visit the local museum, browse the handcraft store, or wander the harbor area. Later in the afternoon, a boat transfer takes you back to Kulusuk in about an hour, where you'll return to the same house from your first night.

Kulusuk to Keflavik
Your morning walk follows the coast and hills east of Kulusuk village. You'll return for lunch at your house, then head to the airport around 3:30 pm. Your flight back to Keflavik departs at 6:00 pm, arriving at 9:45 pm to wrap up the trip.
